To use these abilities, the player must collect jewels, either from treasure chests in hard-to-reach areas, from defeating bosses or the Mimic in some areas, or by turning old equipment into jewels through the crafting shop in Town. The player must then go to the crafting shop and select the Customize option, and at the cost of 100 gil per stone set a stone they have acquired into an empty slots in the appropriate piece of equipment. Equipment pieces that come with abilities cannot have their abilities removed, unlike abilities put onto equipment via jewels.
