While at Celumbia, he was enamored by Angel Purdy's aesthetic appearance and worked hard in "elevating her beauty" - by taking advantage of his assistant manager discounts at Pokois Lux in the Celadon City department store - and sending anonymous gifts of high end fragrances and clothing. Throughout college, nobody suspected Sky of being the "handsomely stylish secret admirer" according to Sonya Chekhov. Her public display of affection for the covert Sky was something he secretly appreciated. However, he doesn't see her as an equivalent and remarked to Jeremiah Choi at one point that Sonya is a bit tacky and just slightly above average. Though he has a certain disdain for many things that aren't beautiful, he tries his best to be understanding and civilized acknowledging that "the subjective is just as important as the objective". After graduation, Sky "accidentally" lands a job as a councilman and advisor to the mayor of Goldenrod City, Tommy Foster. Though Sky was hoping to land a job as a Master Rank Beauty Contest judge, Foster found the young man and enticed him with something "more beautiful". Sky's bittersweet occupation allows him to employ the same strategic mindset he uses for Pokemon Beauty contests, both long-term and short-term planning.
