She was best known as Jill Pembroke on the popular sitcom Charles in Charge. She also played Yeoman Thompson in By Any Other Name on the popular Science fiction show Star Trek. Julie is the daughter of the actors Lee J. Cobb and the Yiddish theater actress Helen Beverley. She was once married to fellow actors Victor French and James Cromwell who played Harve Miller on this series. She was also a former Playboy Bunny.
- She and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine guest star Kate Asner both appeared in the motion picture Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde. More recently Cobb appeared in the 2007 film The Happiest Day of His Life, co-starring Harry Groener and Seymour Cassel, and the 2008 film Jelly along with her daughter Rosemary, and Rick Overton (from Trekkies).
