abstract
  • Jules Dussiflard is a human character who appears in the Benny Breakiron comic book series. He is an independent taxi driver who works in the city of Vivejoie-la-Grande and is friends with the young boy Benny Breakiron, although he has difficulty believing that Benny actually has superhuman abilities. In the first story that he appears in, "The Red Taxis", he deals with the sudden emergence of the Red Taxi Company that tries to put him out of business. In his dealings with the company's owner, Mr. Hairynose, Jules is captured and put into confinement, which leads to Benny allowing himself to be captured so that he could break his friend out, only to end up catching a cold at an inconvenient time that nullifies his powers. Both Benny and Jules are put onto a ship that was headed for the Galapagos Islands, where Mr. Hairynose intends to leave them, but a friend of Jules on board the ship helps the two escape on an inflatable lifeboat. Benny and Jules soon reach an island where they try to signal for an escape, only for its sole resident Andrew Duval to discourage them from doing so, preferring not to draw any attention to the fact that he would rather stay on the island than be rescued and return to having to deal with the company he once ran. Jules remained on the island with Andrew while Benny returned to the mainland in order to stop Mr. Hairynose's plan "Operation Taxi" from taking place, then was picked up by a boat about a month later and returned to his hometown to be reunited with his young friend, to learn that the Red Taxi company had gone out of business.
