As explained by Lutecia Alpine, Vivio can fully concentrate her limited mana at the instance of attack or defense. Accel Smash is a (/an example of) concentration at her attacking fist while Sacred Defender is a concentration at the defensing point. Initially Vivio can only use Sacred Defender around her guarding arms, but later she manages to use it elsewhere, such as stomach and head.
