  • The 2002 Pop Secret Microwave Popcorn 400 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at North Carolina Speedway on November 3, 2002. Johnny Benson, who had been a clean driver two weeks previous at Martinsville Speedway, was rewarded. Benson, who was complimented by NASCAR fans for not moving Kurt Busch out of the way in the Martinsville race, broke through for his first career victory, mirror driving Mark Martin to the line. The win was as rewarding for Benson as it was hampering for Martin. Martin's car was found to be too low following the race, costing him 25 championship points. That put Martin behind points leader Tony Stewart (14th) by 112 points with two races to go. Stats
