Despite his clear tactical strength, he hates fighting and prefers to end fights in as few attacks as possible in order to avoid dragged out conflict. Sabui has even been known to run away from fights that have dragged on for too long. He refers to such fights, or particularly flamboyant people, as ; in fact, it is his most common word to use. Still, when it comes to his teammates — Fūjin and Yūgao — he will break his own rules and enter combat willingly, regardless of the duration. He was initially hostile towards Fūjin, claiming that the glint in his eyes were "lame", referring to the intensity of Fūjin's glare. After being defeated by the man, Sabui refers to the Uchiha as a rival and joins him in his quest, where they become best friends over time. His loyalty for Fūjin is best demonstrated by the fact that he refers to the Uchiha as . He is willing to sacrifice himself for his teammates and has shown incredible bravery for their sake. Conversely, Sabui holds strong disdain for his home village of Kumogakure, which eventually led to his defection.
