| abstract | - The Zirkiv was a 24th century replica of a 21st century Earth Cargo Service freighter. It was built by Stammartie Holl and her two children from salvaged parts of old ECS vessels, and used as both a working supply ship and a tourist attraction. In December of 2380, the Zirkiv was hired to transport goods from Trill to Vulcan. At the start of the Borg Invasion of 2381, the Zirkiv was in the Vulcan system, and took aboard 269 passengers from the domed settlement on T'Khut. The Zirkiv evacuated these people to Cor Caroli IX, but because of the limited facilities at that colony, the T'Khut refugees were forced to remain aboard the freighter for at least two months after the invasion. (ST novel: A Singular Destiny) The Zirkiv is described as looking like "a three-hundred-and-fifty-year-old Earth Cargo Service vessel," which would date it to 2031, predating Zefram Cochrane's first warp flight. This may suggest the ECS existed prior to interstellar flight, operating between planets in the Sol system.
