  • "Halloween Special" is a fifth season Halloween-themed episode of the American comedy mockumentary TV series Parks and Recreation, being the fifth episode of the season and the seventy-third episode overall. The episode first aired in the United Kingdom on NBC on October 25, 2012 to 3.34 million viewers. It was directed by Dean Holland and written by Michael Schur. Conceived by both Greg Daniels and Michel Schur for the NBC television network, Parks and Recreation follows the same mockumentary filming style used in the earlier series, The Office, using the same implication of there being a documentary crew following the cast around, filming their shenanigans. This can therefore be considered a spiritual spinoff of The Office in a sense. The show's premise follows Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), a perky, mid-level bureaucrat of the Parks and Recreation department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. The cast is further fleshed out by Rashida Jones (who had formerly starred in The Office), Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Paul Schneider, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, Rob Lowe, Jim O'Heir, Retta, and in the final season, Billy Eichner.
