abstract
  • The Presence, also known as the the Voice to the Animites, the Hollow One to the Kathol and colloquially as the Void to the Charon at large, was a mysterious and extraordinarily primordial entity spawned of the Void. Worshiped as the ethereal embodiment of the Void itself, the Presence was believed to have communed and manifested itself only to the Prophet of the Void, ceremonially called the Harbinger. The precise nature of the Presence was not understood even by the Charon, aside from their belief in its desire for all life to be extinguished. Although immaterial, and thus genderless, the Presence had apparently adopted a male persona. The Presence was remarkably ancient, with the Prophet of the Void during the Extant War, Krovo Scrios, having stated that the Presence had borne witness to "the first spark of the birth of [the galaxy's] stars", making him over thirteen billion years old. It was speculated by the adherents of the Void of Animus, as well as some among the Jedi Order and Sith Hegemony, that the Presence played some role in what transformed the Charr Ontee into the twisted Charon, both physically and psychologically, was responsible for the advent of the First Prophet and manipulating the inevitability of the Oblivion Crusades, and was the latent driving force behind all who were in touch with the Void to seek the end of all living things. Following the the Jedi Order's contact with the followers of the Void of Animus, the Animites, it was further theorized that the Void Stone came from the Presence as well, or at least was from its plane of existence, making the Presence at least indirectly responsible for the existence of the Voidborn of Otherspace. Perhaps one of the most mysterious aspect of the Presence was its relation with Void occluses, which were discovered by Savelle Ulesari to have been "breaches" its made into the galaxy, made possible only by the sudden loss of a grandiose magnitude of life. It was also though by the followers of the Void of Animus that the Presence had been seeking to force its way into the realspace galaxy for countless millennia, but that the Force, or something directing it, was preventing its entry. Unlike the Voidborn, the Presence appears to have been telepathic, as it was able to commune to Krovo Scrios from "within his thoughts", and on one occasion, mentally touched Xaga Terron. Although it was said that the Presence communed only with the Prophet of the Void, the latter event apparently demonstrated that contact with the Presence was possible for at least other Voidborn, provided they were in contact with the Void Stone. The Presence was though to have been driven by a purpose and goal incomprehensible by the limited and corporeal beings of the galaxy, although it was philosophized by the Savelle Ulesari and Krovo Scrios alike that there was a greater conflict occurring on a higher plane of existence, and that either death, or simply the absence of life where it once existed, somehow fueled its power. It was unconfirmed if other entities of the Void existed, although the Logos all speculated that the mysterious Eidolon was indeed a creature of the Void.
  • The religious cosmology of the multiverse is complex, with many pantheons of Gods co-existing alongside each other. It includes elements from multiple religions, mythologies, and modern concepts such as the Endless. It is not always clear how the Abrahamic God fits in to this scheme - for example Wonder Woman was once involved in a battle wherein Greek Titans fought Judeo-Christian angels and Hindu Gods. The Presence has taken numerous forms throughout history, including: The Voice - the disembodied Voice of God that spoke to and empowered Jim Corrigan as the Spectre. This is the most "active" version of God seen, to the point that it even answers the Spectre's prayers by resurrecting the murdered Justice Society. When The Voice uttered the first word, it created The Word, and it was already being traced by Destiny in his book. The Hand - the appearance of a hand coming out of a nebula was sighted at the moment of universal creation. This is the presence that the rogue Guardian Krona saw when he went back to the beginning of time. The hand was seen again by Swamp Thing, Deadman, and the Phantom Stranger when Heaven was threatened by a Great Darkness. The Source - the universal spirit venerated by the New Gods, which resides beyond the Source Wall. It is thought of as the intelligence aspect of the Presence's infinite scope. The Presence - the unseen entity who commands the allegiance of the host of angels, including Zauriel.

Both The Voice and The Source are but aspects of him. Limited only by The Overvoid) Stamina: Infinite Standard Equipment: None Notable Intelligence: Nigh-Omniscient. Weaknesses: None notable Note: The Presence has stated that he was shaped by external forces, apparently intended to be the beliefs and imaginations of humanity, rather than a 4th Wall reference to the writers or real-world humans. This concept was introduced in The Sandman: A Dream of a Thousand Cats, which depicts that originally cats were the dominant species on Earth, being giant beasts which hunted humans. However, the collected dream of a world where humans ruled over cats altered reality from it's very beginning, making it so that humans were always larger than cats. He is incapable of killing The Great Evil Beast, with both being equal halves of the same whole. The Presence is also not fully Omniscient. There are certain things he doesn't know, and which occur outside of his plan, and he cannot know the thoughts of comparable beings. Furthermore as of the new 2015 Vertigo Lucifer Comic, written by Holly Black, The Presence was severely injured, or temporarily killed by the archangel Gabriel Hornblower, although apparently with a weapon that he himself fashioned. As such he is presumably just one aspect of Monitor-Mind The Overvoid, along with The Source, The Hand of Creation, The Voice of the Godhead, The Word, The Great Evil Beast, Wally The God-Boy, etcetera. Given all of the above, we are scaling him from being far above both Michael Demiurgos and Lucifer Morningstar, and also most likely superior to Mother Night, as he is the Supreme God of the DC Comics / Vertigo Continuities Note 2: Before making any changes to this page, please read and follow the Power-scaling Rules for Marvel and DC Comics.
  • The Presence is a 2015 supernatural suspense/horror film directed by Len Wiseman.
  • The Presence is a unique powerful creation, likely a shade in Geneforge 5. Shaper Rawal demands you destroy it because it is causing creations in the foundry to go rogue. Creations infested by The Presence are shielded, making them mini-bosses in the first section of the game. The first infested creation is a Fyora in the East Foundry. For experienced players it is quite easy to beat. If mechanics are high enough there is a way to sabotage the machinery to deal it a massive blow. When the creation is felled a part of The Presence is killed along with it. The second slave of The Presence is the Servant Mind of the West Foundry. This one summons many weak worms on shaper pedestals near it. After two waves of worms the player will finally be able to hit the Mind. It is recommended the player use ranged attacks to fight the Mind as it has automatic recoil against melee opponents. When the Mind dies it seals a part of The Presence in its body. Weakened, The Presence flees to the Foundry Core where it takes over a Servile. The shield around this form is extremely powerful, letting you deal only one or two damage at best. On the third and final encounter with The Presence, the only way to destroy the servile is to go South and touch the swirly pink pool. This is a Geneforge. Defeat The Presence and report to Shaper Rawal. The Presence origin story is told in a cut scene once the player has whittled down its health. It was created by a Drakon trying to make sentient essence, The Presence's first victim was this Drakon and it has floated through the lands feeding on the minds of creations ever since.
