['dʒɛktʰ] is a non-player character and a reluctant antagonist in Final Fantasy X. He is Tidus's father, was one of high summoner Braska's legendary guardians, and a major blitzball star in his hometown. Jecht is a tall, muscular man, with a tendency to drink heavily, and wields a large black sword in battle.
  • Jecht is the (former) main antagonist of Final Fantasy X and he is Tidus's father, a former guardian of the late high summoner Lord Braska, and an all-around famous blitzball player in Zanarkand.
  • Jecht is tall, muscular, surly, and has a tendency to drink. Jecht has a powerful blitzball move called the “Sublimely Magnificent Jecht Shot Mark III,” in which he kicks the ball into one opponent, it rebounds, hits another opponent, rebounds again, and is then kicked into the goal by him.
  • In the Japanese version, purchase Jecht for 500PP from the PP Catalog. In the US version, Jecht is available from the beginning only in Arcade Mode. Acquiring Jecht for all other game play modes is the same as that in the other version. To access his alternate attire after unlocking him, buy it for 300PP.
  • The father of Tidus in Final Fantasy X, Jecht mostly spends his time wrecking people at blitzball and telling his son that he's a crybaby. His ultimate move, the Sublimely Magnificent Jecht Shot Mark III, is the showiest way to score a goal in the history of any sport. Jecht eventually leaves for Spira and becomes a bit wiser... then gets turned into a giant fish of some sort, raining destruction on the world and eating people.

  • Despite his numerous flaws, Jecht is a good man at heart. He criticizes Tidus in the hope of encouraging him to try harder and disprove him. Jecht does love Tidus, but struggles expressing it: a sentimental message to Tidus on a sphere is cut off with Jecht mumbling, "Remember, you're my son. And... well, uh... never mind. I'm no good at these things". A flashback shows Jecht telling Braska and Auron his dream is to train Tidus into a star blitzball player like himself.

The raspy voice of Jecht is provided by Masuo Amada in Japanese, and Gregg Berger in English.
Jecht enjoys the "Hymn of the Fayth," and is well-loved by his fans to the extent of a blitzball tournament in dream Zanarkand being named in his honor. When the party learns about the Chocobo Eater and Tidus says they must help because "it's the right thing to do", Auron laughs and explains Jecht used to say the same thing, which ended up causing problems for the group. "Jecht's Real Story" from Final Fantasy X Ultimania Omega elaborates on his personality. He had been criticised as hating practice, yet he made frequent training trips out to sea. Jecht may have been concealing how hard he trained, preferring to appear "naturally talented". His claims of being the best could have also risen from a personality wherein he couldn't maintain his confidence without bragging. The memory of Tidus in Jecht's mind remains as that of a 7-year-old boy. Jecht continues to cherish that image of a son who needs protection, and dreams of him growing up. Fragments of Jecht's feelings can be seen from the illusions which occur whenever Tidus comes into contact with Sin's toxin.
There is also a user named after him, famously known for immediately posting "You lost, that's what happened." in a topic where someone asked why they couldn't beat the final boss of FFX.
