  • The District of Columbia is the capital of the United States of America. It is not a state, nor is it really part of the United States as such (It's called the UNITED STATES of America, not the United States AND DISTRICT of America). It is American, however. It is never to be confused with the District of Colombia, which is not American. It is Colombian. It is also not located in British Columbia and is therefore not in Canada. The District of Columbis is All American. It's just not part of the United States.
