  • The koopa are led by the infamous Koopa King Bowser, the largest and most powerful Koopa in existence. They serve him out of fear, not respect, and they are always asking for a pay raise. Koopas are known for being great weapons when used properly. "All you must do, is jump on the koopa, and jump on the koopa! Then you kill koopas!" said Mario, koopa expert. Koopas are in use in the North and East Hyrulain armies.

  • Koopas are turtle-like creatures that have been iconic throughout the Mario franchise, appearing in almost every single Mario game since Mario Bros. Koopas are included in Mario Builder in the colors green, red, yellow, orange and blue. Each color of Koopa has it's own unique behavior. Green Koopas will walk forward and off of ledges and will turn around and continue walking if an obstacle blocks it's path. Red Koopas will not walk over ledges, instead turning around, unlike green Koopas. Yellow Koopas and blue Koopas are identical to red Koopas; However, orange Koopas will erratically chase the player at a very fast speed. it will turn around to continue it's pursuit if the player goes behind it, however must slow down before turning.

Looks especially good on monkeys, who find the sound a delicious color.

  • Most Koopas seem to operate in a hierarchy-based grouping system. Bowser is the leader of the Koopa Troop, which has invaded Mushroom Kingdom many times and has control over most of the Koopas in the Mario series. Many of these same Koopas are soldiers in this army and have different tasks in the organization based on the abilities of their particular class. For example, Koopa Troopas tend to be assigned as basic foot soldiers alongside Goombas due to their lack of special abilities, while Magikoopas are often given advisory roles due to their magical abilities and gift of foresight.

  • Koopas(JP) are a species of several types of turtles from Koopa Kingdom, enemies and even sometimes allies of Mario. As the number of Mario games continued to increase so did the variety for types of Koopas. After Super Mario Bros., they appeared in the game Super Mario Bros. 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. In the game, they did exactly what they did before, except there was a wide variety of Koopa Troopa species, such as a garganteaun one, and a Dry Bones. Soon after Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991. This was the first game to have the Koopa Troopas walk on two legs, instead of there usual four. Stepping on them will reveal a Beach Koopa. The four legs never appeared again in a game, until the remakes of the classics, and in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, but as a Troopea, a Beanbean Kingdom version of the Koopa Troopa. The Super Mario Galaxy games also have the Koopas walking on four legs. Koopas might be related to the Shellcreepers in Mario Bros.

For example, Koopa Troopas tend to be assigned as basic foot soldiers alongside Goombas due to their lack of special abilities, while Magikoopas are often given advisory roles due to their magical abilities and gift of foresight. However, not all Koopas are allied with Bowser. Some Koopas, such as the Koopa Troopas of Koopa Village, live peacefully inside the borders of the Mushroom Kingdom, while others in Super Mario 64, simply hold no allegiance and operate independently. Similar to turtles, Koopas possess shells that are usually a defense mechanism. Unlike turtles, however, the shells are not integrated into their body and more-or-less act as wearable armor/clothing, as evidenced by Super Mario World and Paper Mario.

Looks especially good on monkeys, who find the sound a delicious color. Gary Koopa was another famous Koopa variation. Often imitated by desperate Fred Astaire-type Koopae, but never equaled, the Gary Koopae were a proud and handsome race. For this reason they were hunted to extinction by greedy Fred Astaire-type Koopae who would sell the "Gary Pelts", as they are often called, to Dutch merchants for many, many lira.
