Mit 10.517 Quadratkilometern grenzt dieses County an den Pazifischen Ozean. Im Landesinneren fließen folgende Flüsse: der Los Angeles River, der Rio Hondo, der San Gabriel River und der Santa Clara River. Als Gebirge heben sich von den Rocky Mountains die Santa Clara Mountains und die San Gabriel Mountains ab. Zum County gehören noch die Inseln San Clemente Island und Santa Catalina Island.
