  • Published in StoryStar 2011 Josh, Rachel and Dean were three very good friends. Starting from high school, they were always together, everywhere. Josh and Rachel were smart, intelligent and everything a student should be, whereas Dean was a bit dull when it came to academics, but that never kept him at bay from his two best friends. Well, time passed by and Josh and Rachel were flourishing with time. They were sent for college quiz competitions and so on. They used to feel bad for Dean who was left alone at the hostel and so they used to cheer him up with their experiences and sharing the joy of their victories with him. Years passed and they graduated. Each of them got busy in their own lives. Specially Dean almost disappeared for he had to work hard for getting a permanent job, whereas, Rachel and Josh were easily employed. Being close to each other and equal in merit, Rachel and Josh always fantasized about each other and ended up being in a relationship. Excited as they were, they wanted to break this news to their old buddy Dean and so after little effort had him contacted. Dean, excited as them, invited the two for dinner at his place. The happy love-birds chalked out a day and went to Dean's place. Everything was beautifully arranged and a slow song was on, just made the evening worthy. They talked, laughed, and after sometime Dean left to bring some snacks from the kitchen. After a while he called Josh from within. Josh kissed his girlfriend and left. Being alone Rachel turned on the television. About 25 minutes passed by, none of the two boys appeared. Curious, Rachel went towards the kitchen, expecting to hear some secrets of Josh. She reached the kitchen and found the door locked. She knocked but nobody answered. She pushed lightly and found the door opened. The scene in front of her made her scream in terror. In front of her lied her beloved's body drenched in blood. His face was badly cut and his stomach had this blood dripping out. She saw the back-door of the kitchen half open. She rushed out and saw Dean running away at a distance far from her. She called 100 n 911 and waited by Josh's side for the emergency services to arrive. Soon they came and Josh's body was taken to hospital whereas Rachel was taken by the police for interrogation and a patrol car went in the direction in which Rachel said to have seen Dean escape. Two days later, Josh was buried. The next day she went to Dean's trial at the court, just to know why Dean had to commit this brutal act. When the Judge asked, Dean bowed his head down and surrendered. Too much of a shock to Rachel, Dean said that he always hated Josh for being so intelligent, smart and better than himself. When Rachel came into their lives, he thought of life with her but even she favoured Josh more than him. He hated them both and the way they exaggerated about their success, their winnings, their love for each other, made Dean's life a living hell. The only way he knew to win was by erasing them forever and so he planned all the dinner and so on. Dean was sent to a mental hospital and was sentenced life-long imprisonment. He was a loser again!
