| Biography | - Frank James is a former NASCAR driver from Bakersfield, CA. He competed in seven Sprint Cup Series events in his career, earning two top-tens.
James' debut came in 1970, when he competed at Riverside. Starting 40th in the event, James ran well despite losing a rear end gear late in the race and finished in 21st position. He fared even better when he also entered the June race at the track, running at the finish to record a solid 15th place showing.
James' busiest year would be in the next year, when he competed in three 1971 events. James' again competed at Riverside to start off the year, breaking a tranmission to finish 22nd. He also again improved as the year went on, finishing 21st in his first ever trip to Ontario and then capped it off with his first ever top-ten: a 10th place run in the June Riverside event.
James' final two career starts came during the 1972, when he competed at both Riverside events yet again. James fell out of the January race for the third year in a row, falling victim to a fan blade issue that left him 25th. He closed his career out solidily, though, driving his way to a career-best 9th place run in the June event.
