By 2377, a man named Yaffie, who served as the Ardanan Council Spokesman, was also a key leader of the New Future movement. That same year, as engineers from the Starfleet Corps of Engineers attempted to land the failing flying city, members of New Future fired upon it, causing it to crash-land.
