  • The Great Pumpkin is a mini-boss in Dr. Lunatic, originally appearing in the Asylum's keychain level. A similar creature known as 'Massive Pumpkin' is also the boss of the Intro world in SPISPOPD.
  • The Great Pumpkin was first referred to on October 26, 1959 and went on to become an annual feature of the Peanuts comic strip. It provided the basis for an animated television special, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and, to some extent, has entered into the wider popular culture. It is unknown what the Great Pumpkin looks like because there is no official artwork, depiction from Linus, or any concept art depicting it. However, in parodies, it often appears as a creature with a pumpkin for a head and a body of vines.
  • Linus believes in the Great Pumpkin like others believe in Santa Claus. Linus initially seems to have confused Halloween with Christmas, searching for pumpkin cards in the store and wanting to go out and sing pumpkin carols with his friends. Interestingly, the Great Pumpkin has grown beyond the Peanuts world, and while not many people go looking for the most sincere pumpkin patch, there are carols (see Children's Halloween songs) and stores carry Halloween greeting cards and other decorations that parallel Christmas and other holidays.

  • Another boss from SPISPOPD redone. That of course was the concept behind the keychain levels after all! In SPISPOPD though, it was the first and easiest boss. In this game, it's quite a piece of work! Not really very tough to beat if you have a lot of firepower, but if you don't, those pumpkins can really swamp you! I'm not sure a lot of people realize that the Great Pumpkin also shoots red bullets from its eyes. It can be hard to notice in all the mayhem! And it's not very dangerous.

The other Peanuts characters give Linus a hard time about his belief in the Great Pumpkin. And in the TV special, You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown (1972), Linus loses credibility and almost loses the election because he chooses to speak about the Great Pumpkin in his candidate's speech.
