- Ping is a measure of responsiveness and quality of connection to a remote computer. Officially wikipedia:Ping is a network diagnostic tool and it measures latency and packet loss. In Warhawk, Ping usually refers just to the latency, the number (in milliseconds) shown in your Server List that shows how delay-free your connection is to a game server in the list. It is presumably calculated by timing how long it takes for data to go from your PS3 to the server PS3. Though some games calculate a "ping" that isn't like "real" ping, it's a more sophisticated, game-specific "ping", and there's no way to know how Warhawk is calculating it.
- Ping (played by Ping Wu) is a Chinese food delivery boy who first appears in "The Tape". While delivering food to Jerry's apartment, George asks him to speak with someone in China (because George cannot speak Chinese) at a company that is manufacturing a cream to cure baldness; when George asked if it really works, Ping said, "They say you grow hair, look like Stalin!" Ping made his next appearance in "The Virgin" where he is accidentally injured by Elaine when she tried to apologize to Marla, the virgin; due to this Ping decided to "slap a suit" on Elaine.
- In multiplayer online video games, ping refers to the network latency between a player's computer, called a client, and the game server (or another client). This could be reported quantitatively as an averaged time in milliseconds, or qualitatively as low ping or high ping. This usage is common with players of a variety of first-person shooter and real-time strategy games. Having a low ping is always desirable because lower latency provides smoother gameplay by allowing more frequent updates of game data.

In "The Visa" Ping's cousin Cheryl is introduced and she is a lawyer (his lawyer, to be exact) and after initially deciding to drop the case against Elaine, Cheryl decides to go through with it after figuring out that George was lying to her, calling them all "big liars". Ping said of his cousin, "You think she nice girl? She's a shark. They call her the Terminator!" Ping made his last appearance in "The Pilot" when he is seen watching Jerry with Cheryl and says, "I can't believe you were attracted to him (meaning Jerry)."

In this sense, ping is conflated with lag – one may "lag out" due to unacceptably high ping. Servers will often disconnect a client if the connection is too bad and it poses a detriment to others' gameplay; or, clients will often mandate disconnection if their ping is too high and they can infer their user is not going to have an enjoyable experience because of network complications. However, this doesn't mean that a high ping causes lag. The high ping is the result of the lag. In theory, there can be more reasons of having a high ping (for example, you are transmitting data over a very, very long distance), but most servers of commercial games are associating a high ping with network lag directly. The method used by the game programmers to determine ping times will often not use the traditional ICMP echo request and reply packets, but instead piggyback the functionality onto existing game data packets (often using UDP). Some factors that might affect one's ping include: network protocol engineering, internet connection speed, quality of the internet service provider and the configuration of firewalls. Ping is also affected by geographical locations. For instance if someone is in China playing a server from America, the distance between the two are farther and it takes a longer time for the data to be sent to China. The amount of packet-switching and network hardware in between the two hosts is often more significant. For instance, wireless network interface cards must modulate digital signals into radio signals, which is often more costly than the time it takes an electrical signal to traverse a reasonable span of cable.

Though some games calculate a "ping" that isn't like "real" ping, it's a more sophisticated, game-specific "ping", and there's no way to know how Warhawk is calculating it. The further away a server is, or the poorer your connection to it, the worse your ping/latency gets. If you have created your own online Player server, you will have 0 ping (since the server is running on your PS3). A low ping/latency (0-100) is good...that means when you do something in-game, it is received and acknowledged very quickly by the game server, so your actions take effect immediately. Though even if your ping/latency is low, if your packet loss is high, you might still experience lag. A high-ping/latency (over 300) is bad...you can end up with lag. Your actions take longer to take effect, and you don't get notified of other people's actions soon enough. With a high ping, you might fire a rocket, but by the time the game acknowledges that you've done so, your target will have moved. Or someone may fire a missile at you and you will never know it's coming, you will just die instantly. If you have a high-ping/latency, another expression is that people will say you have "lag" (technical definition here), or you are "lagging"...lag = delay.
