Synopsis
  • On the Watchtower satellite, the Justice League are in a conference call. At the edge of Earth's solar system, a hole has opened, showing half a planet forcing its way in from somewhere else. On site, Superman, Supergirl, the Red Lantern Corps, Blue Beetle, Jediah Caul, K-Rot, and the Oracle observe, while elsewhere, the Guardians of the Universe, the Last Monitor and Darkseid observe with some considerable interest. Meanwhile, on the planet, the wizard known as Deimos has used his magic to usurp control of the planet from Telos. He has broadcast a message to the surviving inhabitants - they must now serve him, or be destroyed. In his fortress, Yolanda Montez of Earth 2 asks him how he plans to control his new followers. Deimos laughs - he has no intention of controlling them, he will simply pit the rebels against his loyalists, and as they die, he will use his magic to channel the energy released so that he can recreate the universe in his image. One of those who plans to reel is Jay Garrick of Earth 2. Carrying his universe's Dick Grayson, he stumbles into a fight between the pro-Deimos Extremists and the anti-Deimos New Earth Justice League. The two jump into the fray, but are going to retreat when they are suddenly joined by their Superman - and the rest of the local heroes. The Extremists leave to find Deimos, and the heroes introduce one another. They agree that they need to stop Deimos, and split up to spread the word. Only two heroes remain in the end - Dick Grayson and the New Earth Superman. Superman tells Dick that of everyone on the planet, Dick seems best able to relate to Telos, and he is the one ally they need to defeat Deimos. Elsewhere, Jay Garrick is running from city to city, when he suddenly smacks headfirst into a man named Barry Allen. Both introduce themselves to the other as the Flash, while above them, the sky turns red. At a henge, Dick Grayson calls out for Telos to talk. Telos appears, and admits that he is horrified by the revelation that he was once a human, before being kidnapped and reprogrammed by Brainiac into a slave. He has done terrible things to the people of these cities. But Dick asks for his help, saying that Deimos might be able to find his real name. Telos agrees, and vows that this time, worlds will live. At an open space, the heroes and their allies descend upon Deimos. They offer him a chance to surrender, but Deimos merely smirks. With a wave of his hand, he summons all of those who will serve him, and orders them to kill the heroes.
