  • Catel Embri was a Mezzel politician and one of the last rulers of the Tetrarchy of Mezlagob. Born on Mezlagob itself in 50 ABY, Embri was from a nouveau riche family. However, his uncle was a mid-level bureaucrat in the civilian bureaucracy of the Tetrarchy Army and secured Embri a spot in the Tetrarchy Army academy. Graduating near the top of his class, Embri served nine years in the Army, including several campaigns in the Xoquon sector. After transferring his commission to the inactive forces, he found a position as a domestic policy advisor to the Deputy Governor of Mezlagob. Over the years, Embri broadened his knowledge of Tetrarchy affairs both on and off Mezlagob, and his peers considered him educated on most areas of political concern, politically astute, and pragmatic. In 95 ABY he became Deputy Governor himself, earning major public support, and three years later became Governor of Mezlagob. Despite the increasing difficulties faced by the Tetrarchy after the Battle of Tizgo V during the Great Liberation, Embri did his best to keep up public morale. At the same time, he lobbied the Tetrarchs to bolster defenses at Mezlagob itself. When Dourshe was killed at the Battle of Vall`to, fellow Mezzel Idiian Gundo led the successful push to have Embri installed to the vacant fourth seat among the Tetrarchs. Embri's reign was short. Though he and Gundo were natural political allies who desired to shift power solidly to Mezlagob and the Mezzels, they were unable to convince Gril to quickly appoint another Mezzel to the group when Pexereca Tainer was assassinated on Hudrel. Mere months after Embri's own appointment, the Golden Empire arrived at Mezlagob and the Tetrarchy fleet surrendered without a fight. The personnel of the Tetrarchy flagship seized Embri and Gundo at Rin Sakaros's order, while Gril shot himself to avoid the inevitable. Rin declared the two Mezzels guilty of crimes against sentients on behalf of the entire Tetrarchy and decapitated them live on the Royal HoloNet.
