| abstract | - Luke Skywalker was a Grand Master of the New Jedi Order, and later the Chief-of-state for the Galactic Alliance. A legendary Jedi Master and founder of the New Jedi Order, Skywalker was the individual most responsible for the survival of the New Republic and Galactic Alliance throughout their short histories. A veteran of numerous conflicts, including the First and Second Galactic Civil War, the Yuuzhan Vong War and the Swarm War; Skywalker was a highly skilled warrior and considered the best in his Order. Following the death of his wife in 40 ABY, Skywalker secluded himself away from the galaxy large; finding solace in teaching the students of the Jedi Order. This remained so until 45 ABY, when murmurs in the dark side of the Force became so prevalent that they could not be ignored. Slowly, these murmurs grew until they eventually broke through in the form of the Sith Order of Decreto; led by the former Jedi Jasca Ducato, and entered into war with the Galactic Alliance and New Jedi Order. As soon as the war begun, the personal losses for Skywalker hit hard. The death of his niece during the assault on the Academy on Dathomir and the execution of so many Jedi showed Skywalker that the Sith could not be reasoned with. In late 62 ABY Skywalker learned of the true reason behind Abeonis' war; but refused the terms of surrender he offered. Resultant, he was present during the Jedi massacre on Ossus; an incident which would bring Skywalker to the verge of collapse; but the war continued, and only the realization that he was needed kept Skywalker going. Skywalker was once again present during the important events, intercepting the Sith Knight Darth Wyyrlok after his assassination of Cal Omas before finally confronting the Dark Lord himself on the Gand Megaplex. Skywalker, after learning of the capture and possible fall of his nephew Jacen Solo, truly fell into despair; cutting himself of from the galaxy, and the New Jedi Order entirely. Relying upon his son, Ben, to act as a conduit for his orders, Luke still held the reins over the Jedi. Eventually however, with his son away on a mission to Kashyyyk, his ascension to the position of Chief-of-state and the Jedi numbers thinning, Skywalker decided to take it upon himself to investigate the Sith interest in the planet Tatooine; and left for the planet with on Saba Sebatyne to support him. It was a trap however, and in the ensuing duel with the Sith Lord Darth Alectasa Saba fell, and Skywalker himself was trapped on Tatooine alone. Luke was later present during battle of Praesitlyn wherein he personally led the space assault on Darth Abeonis' fleet.
