  • Debbie Walden was a character on the situation comedy, Alice. She was played sporadically, by Linda Lavin, who also played Alice. For many years, Debbie Walden was the never-seen, but often mentioned landlady of Vera Louise Gorman. At first, she was thought to be quite stingy, and often threatening to raise Vera's rent, but deep inside, Debbie was lonely and had no real family other than Vera. It was presumed that Debbie, as well as the pastor, still lived with Vera and Elliot and their child. It pleased Debbie that she could be useful again.

After Vera married her husband, Elliot Novak, she moved out of her apartment and into a new house, with her pets. During the show's final years, Debbie moved in with Vera and Elliot. Much later on, the pastor who married the Novaks also moved in. Despite his proficiency with plants, (he had a green thumb) he was also rather forgetful in a lot of things. It was presumed that Debbie, as well as the pastor, still lived with Vera and Elliot and their child. It pleased Debbie that she could be useful again.
