  • Christopher Fullbrook is a politically charged young man who was a representative at the Kingston Youth Parliament for 2005 in his teens and a registered member of the Conservative Party. Born on January 13, 1989, Fullbrook sees himself as a pillar of society and upholds traditional British values. His Youth Parliament success was based on a campaign of going to every school in the area and delivering motivational speeches, he won the election by a staggering 465 votes ahead of Laila Al-Ayoubi, the people had spoken. He encouraged voters by stating that, “Everyone has an opinion and it would be great to see them all being expressed through the ballot box on 4 May.” He attended Richard Challoner Secondary School in New Malden, Surrey, where he started his political campaign. He said of staying at schools to do A-levels; "The only decision for me was whether to stay at school or go to sixth- form college. I decided the familiarity of school meant I'd work better here. You've also got a chance of getting a post like head boy or prefect, which looks good on your CV." This forward planning has served him well as his excellent personal statement secured him a place at the University of Exeter, one of Britain's top 20. He once wisely stated that the youth of today will be working once the 2012 Olympics come to London, therefore they should get interested now as it be affecting them in a plethora of ways come 2012. He also co-edited the YMH (You Matter Handbook). An advisory guide for Kingston youths who were faced with issues such as drugs, drink and sexual relations. "Congratulations, just like hundreds of other young people in Kingston you have picked up a copy of the You Matter Handbook (YMH)! YMH is a handbook of advice not answers. It’s full of information and advice to help you tackle all the things that can get in the way of your relationship with your family and friends. YMH points you in the right direction. It tells you where you can get more help locally and it gives clear, sensible advice on what to do if you feel a situation is out of control. No one said it was easy being a teenager. No one said it was easy being a parent or carer! There are many problems we face as young people, and it is important that adults understand and appreciate what we have to deal with. Generally, most of us get along with our parents, but can sometimes find them as confused as we are about our growing up. Remember, it's all new to them too! It's always worth having two points of view, so take a look at the flip- side of YMH, and you will see the information that parents and carers told us would help them to help YOU."
