  • It's baby Sam's first birthday. Preparations are also under way for the Christmas concert in the village hall. Donald and Amos are working on putting the program together. Jackie sneaks away from his work at the farm to do a job for Mowlam with Archie and Mike. Mowlam interrupts Sam's birthday celebration, demanding his dog back, but Matt and Jack throw him out. Alan hangs around The Woolpack, clearly unwilling to go home. Finally Henry has to ask him to leave since it's past closing time. The children's playgroup has it's own Christmas party at the village hall, with Matt playing the part of Father Christmas. At the end Sgt MacArthur shows up and wants to talk to him.
