abstract | - Alvin Wright (born February 5, 1961 in Wedowee, Alabama) is a former professional American football defensive lineman. Wright, a nose tackle, played with the National Football League's Los Angeles Rams from 1986 to 1992 and was All-Pro in 1990. Wright graduated from Randolph County High School in 1980 and earned a football scholarship with Jacksonville State University in Alabama. After one redshirt season and four seasons as a starting defensive lineman, Wright was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Rams in 1986. He broke into the starting lineup in 1988 and was the anchor of a solid Rams 3-4 defense from 1988 to 1990 that enabled players such as linebacker Kevin Greene to accumulate quarterback sacks (Greene had 46 in that time period, most by any player).
