| abstract | - The story is told from the perspective of Malcolm Reed, during a neutronic storm while serving on the Enterprise (NX-01). On September 21, 2152, Reed and the remainder of the Enterprise's crew are forced to take refuge in the ship's catwalk (ENT: "The Catwalk"). In order to pass the time, the crew play poker, betting with dessert packs from their rations. Malcolm plays a round with Hoshi Sato, Charles Tucker III and Tristan Curtis. Being lactose intolerant, Reed seeks to get rid of his dairy-based desserts as quickly as possible, when he spots Curtis tossing in a pack of artificially-flavored pineapple cobbler.
