  • Steve Spencer (December 5, 1945 - ) is a former NASCAR driver from Old Hickory, TN. He competed in eight Sprint Cup Series events in his career. Spencer's initial foray into the sport came during the 1979 season, when he finished a career-high 60th in points. Competing in both Nashville races, Spencer made his debut in the May race, completing all but fifteen laps to record a career-best 12th place finish. He then tagged on a 20th place showing in the July race despite a broken water pump. Spencer stepped it up to a three-race schedule during the 1980 season, but again started the year in Nashville. This time, Spencer had a tough go of it at his native track, blowing an engine to finish 28th in the May race and then blowing a head gasket to finish 25th in the June event. Spencer also added a start at Bristol and crashed there to 25th. Spencer also ran a three-race schedule to close out his career during the 1981 season. He started off the year making his first trip to Atlanta while driving for Roger Hamby. After an oil pump failure there (30th place finish), Spencer ran the next race at Bristol with Hamby and finished 20th. He then ended his career driving for Cecil Gordon back at Nashville, with Spencer completing all but twenty laps to record a respectable 18th place finish.
