Von denen mittlerweile schon siebzehn Sekunden vergangen waren. Die achtzehnte Sekunde lief, und ja, es war vermutlich sinnvoll, wenigstens vierzig Sekunden zu warten. Zumal jetzt schon die neunzehnte Sekunde kam. In der zwanzigsten Sekunde kamen ihm doch wieder Zweifel. Schließlich war die Zeit so oder so zu kurz. Schließlich sollte er ja eine volle Minute warten. Aber die Minute war so lang. Jetzt waren gerade mal einundzwanzig Sekunden vergangen. Schon die vierzig Sekunden waren eigentlich unerträglich lang, und wenn er schon abkürzte, dann konnte er eigentlich auch gleich auf dreißig Sekunden abkürzen, von denen jetzt bereits zweiundzwanzig Sekunden vergangen waren. Fünfundzwanzig Sekunden ... sechsundzwanzig ... siebenundzwanzig ... vielleicht sollte er ja doch länger warten. Wenigstens fünf Sekunden. Das war letztlich doch noch auszuhalten. Zumal jetzt schon achtundzwanzig Sekunden vergangen waren. Ja, fünf Sekunden mehr konnte er auf jeden Fall noch warten. Neunundzwanzig Sekunden. Jetzt wäre die letzte Sekunde angebrochen, wenn er sich nicht doch noch für eine Verlängerung entschieden hätte. Und jetzt waren es dreißig Sekunden. Jetzt wäre es vorbei, wenn er nicht doch noch verlängert hätte. So musste er jetzt noch fünf Sekunden warten. Oder vielleicht doch lieber zehn? Einunddreißig Sekunden. Doch, es ist sicher besser, insgesamt vierzig Sekunden zu warten. Das ist zwar immer noch kürzer als die geforderte Minute, aber dafür erwartbar. Zumal jetzt schon die zweiunddreißigste Sekunde zu Ende gegangen war. Etwas mehr als drei Sekunden konnte er definitiv noch warten. Und vierzig Sekunden waren immerhalb schon zwei Drittel einer Minute. Jetzt hatte er schon dreiunddreissig Sekunden gewartet ... vierunddreissig ... fünfunddreissig ... sechsunddreißig ... vielleicht sollte er doch noch fünf Sekunden länger warten? Dann war es insgesamt wenigstens eine dreiviertel Minute. Das war doch besser als zwei Drittel. Die siebenunddreißiste Sekunde war abgelaufen. Jetzt wären es nur noch drei Sekunden. Aber fünf Sekunden mehr machte ja wirklich nicht viel aus. Das war sicher besser, wenn er noch entsprechend länger wartete. Achtunddreißig Sekunden. Ja, er würde noch fünf weitere Sekunden warten. Zwar war das immer noch keine Minute, aber immerhin, der Zeiger hatte den letzten Quadranten erreicht. Neununddreissig Sekunden. Vierzig Sekunden. Jetzt also noch fünf weitere Sekunden. Bald hatte er es geschafft. Einundvierzig Sekunden. Ob er nicht doch lieber fünf Sekunden länger warten sollte? Immerhin, fünfzig Sekunden sing schon fast eine Minute. Das war sicher besser. Noch vier Sekunden. Das war überschaubar. Und fünfzig Sekunden waren ja fast schon eine Minute. Es fehlten nur noch zehn Sekunden ... siebenundvierzig ... andererseits, vielleicht sollte er ja diese zehn Sekunden auch noch anhängen Zehn Sekunden waren ja nun wirklich nicht viel, und dann wäre seine Minute voll. Und jetzt waren schon achtuindvierzig Sekunden vergangen, da spielten diese zehn Sekunden doch keine so große Rolle. Zumal inzwischen schon neunundvierzig Sejunden vergngen waren. The only thing traceable, is that it only started being recorded in the Middle Ages, due to the ability of construction of "precision" timepieces (mechanical and water clocks). However, no consistent records of the origin for the division as 1⁄60 part of the hour (and the second 1⁄60 of the minute) have ever been found, despite many speculations. Historically, the word 'minute' comes from the Latin pars minuta prima, meaning "first small part". This division of the hour can be further refined with a "second small part" (Latin: parte minutae secundae) and this is where the word 'second' comes from. For even further refinement, the term 'third' (1⁄60 of a second) remains in some languages, for example Polish (tercja) and Turkish (salise), although most modern usage subdivides seconds by using decimals.
