abstract | - Sherman was the name of Bruce Delgado's horse. He had trained it into being a cavalry mount from which he led the Chatsworth Lancers. Like Delgado, Sherman was also covered with improvised armor to protect him in battle. The horse was named after the tank rather than the general since mounted lancers were the nearest equivalent of tanks after The Change. When Delgado decided to attack Topanga, he rode Sherman into battle. Due to having to use foot soldiers to break through the Glenview defensive wall, the Lancers hung back to take advantage of any openings. After breaking through, they advanced down the narrow Topanga Canyon Boulevard at a walk or slow trot so neither Sherman nor Delgado saw much action. Then the advance stalled due to a second barrier at a point where the Canyon narrowed. Delgado and Sherman trotted ahead to see and discovered a chest high improvised barricade. Before Delgado could issue orders, the Topangans sprung another surprise. They triggered an avalanche which rushed down at the Lancers and their horses. Sherman reared and was struck in his side by a rock the size of a table killing him.
