Xolotl was alone as a dark priest of a dead city. His people had left him years ago as they grew tired of his promises to stay loyal to the Darkness despite how it never manifested itself. They left looking for better lands and better gods. However, later on, Tau'ma and Miguel Estacado appeared before Xolotl and granted him his powers. He was told he'd be the high priest to Miguel and bear his powers of the Darkness and was branded with a tattoo over his eye. He was told that one day Miguel would bear a child, and at all costs he must protect it from those who would harm him. His child would inherit the powers of the Darkness but would not be able to use them until he turns 21.
Switch: Tony Estacado
One day, Tony Estacado was born and Sonatine saw to his oath of protecting him. He ordered the Witchblade to be delivered to him so he could give it to Sandra to help protect Tony. However, it was stolen in transit.
Sonatine called Kenneth Irons to discover, much to his displeasure, that the Witchblade had been taken. When Kenneth discovered what had happened, he quickly had his people pull surveillance footage to see if they could find the girl. They began running facial recognition. When Sandra walked in, she instantly recognized Mary.
