| abstract | - The Battle of Glorious Salvation was the final major offensive of the Remnant War. A coordinated offensive was timed by the UNSC, Alliance of Sangheili Clans and Yanme'e Conglomeration to coincide with an invasion of the world by the Union of Jiralhanae Tribes. Ostensibly an ally, the purpose of this coordination was to prevent total Jiralhanae domination of the occupied world, or if possible to prevent their presence on the planet entirely. Possessing extreme strategic and religious importance, Glorious Salvation's conquerers would be in a much stronger position the post-war world, both militarily and politically. Starting on 15 August 2565, the UNSC Navy breached Covenant Remnant space as a result of the Oriana Campaign and advanced as much as 20 light years, temporarily being halted by heavy Remnant fortification at A, B, C, and D. This was known as the Line of Infinite Fortitude, about 10 light years from Glorious Salvation, and was the Remnant's last line of defensive worlds. All four worlds had fallen to UCG conquest by 9 September, after which four UCG fleets, Human, Sangheili, Yanme'e and a joint Theran/Ve'nek, advanced on the world itself. From the opposite direction, the Jiralhanae Battle Fleet had defeated the Remnant's rearguard action at Gale. When the offensive resumed, two Jiralhanae fleets attacked Glorious Salvation from the galactic north and east entering orbit on 15 September, while two UCG fleets bypassed Remnant forces positioned south of Glorious Salvation and entered orbit three days later. The actual orbital and surface battle lasted until 22 October, partly due to extensive fortification and partly the Remnant's repeated refusal to surrender. Before the battle was over, Remnant leader the Prophet of Obedience and the other San 'Shyuum on the world committed suicide, choosing to initiate their own Great Journey. The world's defenders finally surrendered on 22 October, having previously given no indication of doing so, after video of the dead Prophets was projected from orbit by UNSC forces.
