In early Spring, a group of Trees took part in a heated debate between followers of opposing candidates in Nashville, North Carolina, loudly singing the "Bedford Forrest Quickstep" during the event. Later that year, a group of Trees served as Forrest's bodyguards at a rally in nearby Rocky Mount.
