The Nintendo DS version, titled Gyakuten Saiban Yomigaeru Gyakuten in Japan, was released in 2005 in Japan and North America, and in 2006 in Europe, and includes an English language option. The game is the first entry in the Ace Attorney series, and has received several sequels and spin-offs.

Ace Attorney is Phoenix Wright's Level 3 Hyper Combo, and is only available in Turnabout Mode. Wright appears at his desk and accuses the opponent of committing the crime he is investigating during the match, unleashing an energy beam from his index finger that pierces and strikes the opponent with guilt. He goes on to present his evidence, shocking him/her, before unleashing a mighty "Take that!" text bubble which leaves the opponent in an explosion, as he/she suffers a breakdown in a typical Ace Attorney fashion. This deals 600,000 points of unscaled damage.

Per giocare ai titoli di questa saga non è affatto necessario conoscere il codice penale o il sistema giudiziario, basta saper far credere al giudice ed alla giuria popolare che le cazzate dette dall'imputato siano la verità ed eventualmente, far passare l'accusa per una manica di pirla. Fortunatamente la grafica a cartoni animati ci impedisce di confonderlo con un normale processo italiano.

Soll heißen: Es gibt zu fast jedem Beweis eine 3D-Ansicht, zum drehen und wenden, man kann Luminol versprühen, um evt. verwischte Blutspuren zu finden, oder viele andere Ermittlungen aus der Forensik durchführen (ebenfalls trifft man auf diese Features im letzten Fall des DS-Remakes von Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney). 2.
