  • The suits will spark when damage is taken from an enemy or hazard, and the health meter in the bottom-left corner of the screen will decrease accordingly. When the meter has been reduced to less than half, it will start to flash and a beeping noise will resound. Any damage taken can be repaired by ending the day and going into the next morning, finishing a cave, or by standing in the light of the Dolphin and pressing A in the first game. This will not work with the Ship in Pikmin 2, so the player must survive until the start of the next day. However, if one captain should take too much damage and fall in battle, the player can continue the day as the surviving captain.
  • Spacesuits are made of a self-sealing material that will automatically close a puncture that is 1 cm or less in diameter. If the puncture is larger than 1 cm across, there is a 25% chance for each additional cm that the suit will be unable to seal the hole. A suit can never automatically seal a hole more than 5 cm across, such a hole requires a patch (see below). Spacesuits are manufactured for all the major Frontier races. They cost 1,000 credits each, except for vrusk suits, which cost 1,500 credits. A life support refill costs 50 credits.
  • A spacesuit was a specially designed set of clothing used by NASA astronauts to protect themselves from space. These suits consisted of a lower body piece which had a hard outer layer and interwoven fibers underneath, a torso piece designed similarly, a cap with a microphone on it, and a helmet. The suit also included a water circulation system that kept the astronaut cool and the EVA Maneuvering Unit, a jet pack that allowed the astronaut to move.

When a captain whistles, the antenna will emit rings of light which spread out at the point where the pointer is. Each captain's whistle has a different sound. In Pikmin 3, the spacesuits worn by Alph, Brittany and Charlie are nearly identical to Olimar's, but feature small pea whistles attached to the front of their helmet. The area below the collar is also colored the captains' main color.

A suit can never automatically seal a hole more than 5 cm across, such a hole requires a patch (see below). If a hole is not repaired, the wearer will lose consciousness in a number of minutes equal to 10 minus the diameter in cm of the hole. After losing consciousness, the wearer must make a STA check every five turns (30 seconds). Failure means the wearer dies immediately. Spacesuits are manufactured for all the major Frontier races. In 2020, Shaun Christopher used a spacesuit to investigate the alien probe the USS Lewis & Clark had encountered near Saturn. (TOS novel: The Rings of Time)
