Patriarchy
rdfs:comment
Patriarchy refers to the Kzin government, and the Kzinti families with highest status, equivalent to royalty, whose names bear the -Rift suffix. Patriarchy is a term used in feminism to describe the system of gender-based hierarchy in society which assigns most power to men, and assigns higher value to men, maleness, and "masculine traits". Feminism recognizes most of human society as patriarchal. Feminists work to end the perpetuation of patriarchy, deeming it oppressive for women and people of non-binary genders. Patriarchy refers to a social system or government where Men are the primary figures of authority while Women hold subservient positions. Paternalism means something similar. A patriarchy and paternalism are found in many traditional societies and traditional Religions including Christian fundamentalism. Conservatives being traditional almost invariably support some degree of patriarchy. Liberal Christianity isn't paternalist and liberal Christian denominations allow women to be priests, ministers, religious leaders. The Patriarchy was a powerful independent state in the Alpha or Beta Quadrant. In 2383, Romulan Proconsul Anlikar Ventel expressed concerns that if the Patriarchy obtained quantum slipstream technology the entire region near the Romulan Star Empire could destabilize. (ST - Typhon Pact novel: Plagues of Night) The Patriarchy may be the same state as the Kzinti Patriarchy. A patriarchy was a society in which males held a dominant role over females. The Talarians, for example, were a "rigidly patriarchal society", believing women should only be used for mating and for work. They viewed females as unintelligent and weak and in need of their protection. As such, a female could never outrank a male in Talarian society. Because of these beliefs, Jeremiah Rossa, a Human raised by Talarians, did not respond positively to the women serving aboard the USS Enterprise-D. Because Rossa needed to build a relationship with a male, as he would not listen to a female, Captain Jean-Luc Picard had to serve as a "father figure" to help Rossa reintegrate into Human society. n25:abstract
In a traditional hierarchical partiarchy a Lady frequently has power over lowly manservants or even her sons but the lady derives her limited authority from Gentlemen higher up the social scale, her husband, her father etc. Some feminists and anti-oppression activists prefer to analyse gendered power relations in terms of kyriarchy and/or intersectionality, finding "patriarchy" too focused on gendered societal power at the expense of other intersecting oppressions. Others prefer to continue using the term patriarchy when describing gendered oppression. Patriarchy refers to the Kzin government, and the Kzinti families with highest status, equivalent to royalty, whose names bear the -Rift suffix. (TNG: "Suddenly Human" ) There have been many other examples of patriarchal societies throughout history, including the Kazon (VOY: "Maneuvers", "Alliances") and the Ferengi, although the latter made notable strides towards equality in the 2370s. (TNG: "The Last Outpost" ; DS9: "Profit and Lace") Most Human cultures were also once patriarchal, and some aspects of Klingon society (such as the restriction of women being able to hold the position of chancellor) were patriarchal as well. (TNG: "Redemption" ) Lela Dax mentioned that she was one of the first women to be a council member in the Trill government, suggesting Trill society was also patriarchal at one time. <default><i>Unknown</i></default> FounderNot applicable LeaderNone Date of FoundationUnknown BeliefsNone Number of AdherentsUnknown DemonymNone The Patriarchy is a social system founded by the KKK, in which masculinity and male dominance is valued. Feminists in the Western World fight against a patriarchy that has existed since the beginning of the 1960s. Third wave feminism, however, has partaken in sciamachy against a patriarchy that has not been demonstrated to exist and you can trust us because the DP Wiki is right about everything (known famously as "the patriarchy"). This is possibly due to the fact that they are college students with too much time on their hands. Feminists use logical fallacies, blatantly false statistics and universal human struggles to justify their obsolete ideology. Also, they put sexism against women under the banner of the patriarchy as Christians do with evil under the banner of Satan. Patriarchies still exist in nations such as Saudi Arabia, but Western feminism pays negligible attention to that. They are far too busy doing jazz hands because clapping is ableist and scrutinizing Spider Woman's ass as sexual objectification while claiming to be sexually accepting. It is often used to describe reality and things that have nothing to do with gender by feminists.
