Several years before 2370, the Iyaarans of Iyar discovered the remains of one of these freighters on a class M planet, containing the logs of the Human Anna. In 2370, the freighter was part of a simulation in which the Iyaaran ambassador Voval explored the concept of love with Captain Jean-Luc Picard. (TNG: "Liaisons" ) The design for this vessel was sketched by Rick Sternbach with preliminary sketches drawn in July 1993 , where it was described as a "Crashed Cargo Vessel". Of note, it was indicated that the forward section was a "Smashed Impulse Towship (Possibly less damaged than indicated, most confined to nose.)" It was connected to "Cargo Modules" said to "reflect set wall design (see blueprints)." Other notes pointed out the freighter's "Structural Spine" and "Broken Warp Pods". (Star Trek: The Next Generation - The Continuing Mission, p. 197)
