The album recieved critical acclaim and stayed in the No.1 position for 30 weeks, before being beaten by themselves with their second album, With the Beatles, and staying in the charts for 40 more weeks. Please Please Me is the debut album by the English rock band The Beatles. Record company Parlophone released the album on 22 March 1963 in the United Kingdomaccelerated to take advantage of the success of the singles "Please Please Me" and "Love Me Do". Of the fourteen songs, eight were written by Lennon/McCartney , a first clue to what the American music magazine Rolling Stone later called "[their invention of] the idea of the independent rock band that writes its own hits and his own instrument."
