The High Elf was tall and of slender build, with a proud, and sometimes haughty, demeanor. They lived in secluded areas across the land and existed in tight-knit family units that rarely mixed with other racial stocks. The oldest member of the clan acting as Tribe Master governed them. Each of the clans had a representative in the united government that ruled over all High Elves. "The High Elves, or the Asur as they call themselves,[1c] are one of the most ancient and powerful mortal civilizations within the Warhammer World.[2b] This grand and mighty people all hail from their ancient homeland of Ulthuan, a magically empowered island-continent of towering white cities and serene, beautiful landscapes unmatched anywhere else in this war-torn world.[1e] The High Elves of Ulthuan are a proud and mighty nation of masterful warriors, peerless mages and lords of the sky and sea. They are an ancient race with powerful armies and even grander magic whose might once defeated the great darkness that tried to envelope the world many thousands of years ago. At the zenith of their power, their civilization were truly like Gods of the mortal world. Yet the High Elves are now facing the twilight years of their existence, their cities no longer bustling with vibrancy and life as they use to be but now serve as a gloomy reminder of their impending demise.[2b] The time of the High Elves has passed, or so it is said, yet such is their immense pride that they fight on nonetheless, for they consider themselves the true and rightful protectors of this ancient world, and they believe that so long as their civilization persist throughout the ages, this dying world will never fall into complete darkness. If oblivion is indeed to be their fate, they have chosen to face it with arrow nocked and sword held high, defending the world they have loved and protected to the last. So do the white-garbed hosts of Ulthuan march to war, banners streaming in the wind and every warrior reconciled to death in service of a greater cause; the protection of this very world.[1c]"@en . "High Elves hail from a distant forested land to the southeast, at the center of which is a massive city said to be over five thousand years in age. Both are called Eldras, and elven word meaning “New beginnings”. It was from this word that the word “Elf” first originated in old Marcurian. The High Elves are a highly bureaucratic and orderly people, treasuring the law and structure as a society. Those within elven society that find themselves at odds with the ancient ways join the Rangers, a highly-renowned force of scouts and woodsman whose sworn duty it is to protect Elven lands and interests. The High Elves have set up the settlement of Nua Baile on the southern shores of Duranin. While some elves have trickled into Duranin over the centuries on their own, this recent surge of elves has come claiming right to excavate and research what appear to be ruins of an ancient elven society called the Yvas; a society that existed before modern elves split into the High Elves and Wild Elves."@en . . . . "The High Elf is thought to have been the first of the Elven races and was thus considered the father of all elves. The united government was called the Chamber of Wisdom and was ruled by the King and Queen of the strongest tribal clan. High Elves were masters of language, study, and magic. They spent most of their long lifetimes in research concerning one or another problem. Of all the races, they had the greatest ability for the casting of spells. The High Elves, like all elves, respected the woodlands and make dangerous foes within the boundaries of the home forest. They held the greatest love for birds and could call most species with a simple whistle. Once foresters and druids numbered in their ranks but this decreased over time. They held truth and justice above all other virtues and normally followed the teachings of Sorn. The few evil High Elves that existed were called 'Talacara' and were often hunted down and killed by their High Elven brothers. The High Elves originally lived in a forest called Biail Moore, but they fell out of grace with the goddess Sorn. The Great Alter of Sorn was destroyed by the storms set down upon the High Elves in her rage. A Holy Crystal was lost in the catastrophe. Legend recorded the crystal as a tear of the God Allanbay from when he first looked upon Sorn. Sorn's storming rage splintered the High Elves into several tribes. Some of these tribes evolved into the Wood Elves and the Dark Elves. Legend said that the goddess would forever punish the High Elves until the Holy Crystal was once again found. High Elves constantly sought to regain their former place of regard in the eyes of Sorn. Though they normally stayed out of human matters, they hated slavers and slave keeping races. The High Elven Warband, a small army of experienced warriors, constantly roved the land in an attempt to stop all slavery. The largest population of High Elves exists within the Galen Forest where they have a large city near Stonecreep Pass. An Alchemist Tower is located in the center of the city and is the pride of the High Elven Mages. This tower contains the great collection of spell components and historical records known to exist. Due to the ongoing War between the High Elven Nations and the vile Citystate of Westwall, the Galen forest is a dangerous place for any non-elven person to enter."@en . . . . . . . .
