New Wave-eran är en så kallad era med ett löjligt dramatiskt namn. Eran varade från början av 2007 till slutet av året. Namnet New Wave syftar på att en ny våg av medlemmar gick med i Monte Fjanton, hela tre stycken: Johan, Viktor och Akram. The movie blocks, Cartoon Network Theatre and Friday Flicks, were merged and renamed to Cartoon Network Popcorn. In addition for this era, much of the fun-/comedy-oriented programs (Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Camp Lazlo!, etc.) were airing less frequently as CN has more focused on live-action shows. The New Wave look officially ended on October 1, 2011 at 9:00 AM (GMT +8) during The Amazing World of Gumball premiere. It took with CHECK it look as a successor. The term new wave came out of the late-1970s punk movement. At first, the label referred to punk-like music that came out of art schools rather than from the streets (Devo and Talking Heads are examples). At the same time, clubs and radio stations across the United States were afraid of punk music, so some punk groups started wearing ties and hats and calling themselves new wave. Even bands like The Ramones were sometimes billed as new wave. It was a safe way for a punk band to get gigs and radio play. There weren't many punk labels at the time, and to get national coverage, a band would have to sign on a new wave label such as IRS. Under den här perioden var det tänkt att vi skulle börja göra "långfilmer" igen: Felix hade lagt mycket tid på att skriva Lasse Äventyrare, och Basse på att skapa en uppföljare till TAL-filmerna, Mission Quite Possible, som till skillnad från TAL skulle ha en planerad story och inte filmas i en skakig och äcklig förstapersonsvinkel. Vi började filma en del av scenerna i Mission Quite Possible, men efter att Akram flyttat till Eslöv, och Basse börjat tycka att manuset var dåligt, så lades projektet ner. Lasse Äventyrare började vi aldrig ens filma. Den stora förändringen i vårt filmskapande kom när vi började göra s.k. TV-serier: Felix i Naturen och det ursprungliga Basses Rätt i Skafferiet. Vi filmade första avsnittet i båda serierna i början av året, men Basse redigerade inte dem förrän på hösten, efter att inspelningen av Mission Quite Possible sket sig. Dessa nya serier blev början på en ny period, då vi nästan enbart gjorde webbserier av olika slag... As the new wave movement commercialized further and further, the wedge between new wave and punk widened. To quote Polio Ferrari, "If punk symbolizes the Radical Left in music, new wave describes its wishy-washy liberals." Or, in the oft-quoted words of L.A. music journalist Kickboy Face: "I have excellent news for the world. There is no such thing as new wave. It does not exist. It's a figment of a lame cunt's imagination. There was never any such thing as new wave. It was the polite thing to say when you were trying to explain you were not into the boring old rock 'n' roll but you didn't dare to say punk because you were afraid to get kicked out of the fucking party and they wouldn't give you coke anymore. There's new music, there's new underground sound, there's noise, there's punk, there's power pop, there's ska, there's rockabilly. But new wave doesn't mean shit."
