n20:abstract
The Hero of Oakvale is the main protagonist in both Fable and its expansion, Fable: The Lost Chapters. He is the only playable character in both of the said games. His name is never directly mentioned in the games, but he is often referred to as "The Hero", "Farmboy", or simply "Boy" by his associates. The people of Albion call this Hero by his customizable Hero title (purchased via Title Vendor), which is always "Chicken Chaser" at the beginning of the game. His appearance is also able to be changed, and thus depends on the player's preferences. The Hero of Oakvale as a young boy is recruited into the Guild of Heroes after his hometown of Oakvale is destroyed by bandits and his entire family is assumed killed. After graduating from the Guild, he embarks on a quest to discover why his town was attacked. In the cut scenes narrated by The Guildmaster, he is depicted as having long dark brown or black hair, and clean shaven. His outfit changes in almost every one of the cut scenes. He is the most powerful Hero in Albion, because of his ancient bloodline leading back to the rulers of the Old Kingdom: the Archon. Because of this, he is a master of the three Hero traits; Strength, Skill and Will and one of the strongest Heroes of all time. The Hero of Oakvale is the main character in Fable and Fable: The Lost Chapters. As a boy his familiy was presumed dead and he was taken by Maze from Oakvale to the Guild of Heroes. There he trained with Whisper the Guildmaster and others. He learned will and combat. Once he became a hero he went around Albion either helping or destroying. He was the arena champion, killed the white balverine, and defeated Twinblade. (And possibly killed him) The hero went after his mother who had been captured by Jack of Blades, and then got captured himself. He spend at least a year until captivity until he eventually escaped with his mother, defeating a kraken along the way. After Maze's betrayel he was forced to kill him, and fought Jack of Blades after he killed his mother. He was forced to decide between sending the ultimate weapon away, or killing his sister and taking total power. Either way the story continues in the lost chapters where he ventured across ship to meet Sychthe in snowspire. He was forced to bring three souls together to meet Jack one last time. The souls depend on player choice, and regardless the hero fights Jack in his new dragon form. He defeats him, and may end up wearing his mask, meaning Jack lives on forever basically destroying the world. But the story shows he pretty much had to make the good choice.
