DIARRHEA Diarrhea

The late great George Carlin once said, "I like to think about things, things you normally would not have time to think about," and so in tradition of that line we begin our article on Diarrhea, written by those who say "We think about the shit that George forgot to mention." Sure, none of us knew him personally, so he would probably be thoroughly disgusted, but then again, why else would you be reading this article about Diarrhea, huh? Diarrhea is a common symptom of most gastro-intestinal disorders and is characterized by the frequent passage of watery stool. By itself, it is not an important diagnostic tool or serious symptom. Almost everyone suffers an occasional bout of diarrhea, and usually do not suffer ill effects. One of the most common causes is a meal high in fat. Another common cause is food poisoning. However, diarrhea can have serious complications and causes about 2.5 million deaths a year, the majority of which are in children under the age of 5. * In many infectious diseases, such as polio and cholera, the infectious agent is passed through the feces. * Constant diarrhea can result in dehydration if the patient is not able to take in fluids and is not given fluids intravenously. In fact, most deaths from cholera are not from the disease, but from dehydration. * Diarrhea can also cause an imbalance of electrolytes, which can set off problems with the brain or kidneys. * Diarrhea can exacerbate other diseases of the intestinal tract, such as hemorrhoids. * Rotavirus is the most common reason children under 5 are hospitalized with diarrhea. Frequent diarrhea combined with bloody stool, fever, loss of appetite or nausea usually indicates a serious underlying condition and the need for immediate medical treatment. Diarrhea, also colloquially known as "the runs", was the condition of having loose or liquid bowel movements. Diarrhea could be a side effect of some vaccines. In 2152, Phlox warned Charles Tucker III that an inoculation he was going to administer against a lymphatic virus would cause diarrhea, as well as headache and nausea, although they would only last a few days. Tucker was apprehensive, commenting, "I'd hate to be responsible for giving the crew the runs." (ENT: "The Seventh") And it is considered to suck if you have constipation at the same time that you have diarrhea. "Diarrhea" is a parody of the hymn "Gloria in Excelsis Deo". Diarrhea is the excretion of liberal ideas from one's body. A Real American experiences this very often, more so since the hostile takeover of Congress by the Democrats. Tucker Carlson goes through diarrhea more than once a day, but no one's sure why he's still full of crap. Stephen Colbert loves this experience, he does his best thinking when on the throne. Diarrhea in cats and dogs can be a symptom of many different conditions, and if it persists, should be diagnosed by a vet. Home remedies are not recommended until a vet has definitively diagnosed the problem. Some possibilities include Food sensitivity and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Diabetic cats tend toward gastrointestinal problems, most commonly vomiting and diarrhea. This study shows 30% of cats with diabetes also have some GI problems along with it. In 50% of the GI-troubled cats, the problem was vomiting. When diarrhea is a problem, the possibilities for both dehydration and hypoglycemia increase. The insulin dose you give depends partly on the meal being digested at a normal rate. When the food passing through the system speeds up in this manner, the insulin is still being absorbed at its usual rate. It could mean that there's not enough food to match the insulin dose and a hypo could occur. You and your vet may want to temporarily decrease the insulin dose until you are both satisfied the diarrhea is under control. See also Constipation. The Diarrhea scroll gives you the Diarrhea emote and can be found on Crusty Road in Amakna. Use in chat: /belly The late great George Carlin once said, "I like to think about things, things you normally would not have time to think about," and so in tradition of that line we begin our article on Diarrhea, written by those who say "We think about the shit that George forgot to mention." Sure, none of us knew him personally, so he would probably be thoroughly disgusted, but then again, why else would you be reading this article about Diarrhea, huh? You were maybe... expecting the Addams Family? Now that we have dispersed with the bullshit and bad quotes from bad movies, lets get our hands dirty with the human flow of things.
