Palmer was faced with a tough decision when he heard that Yadeth, leader of the Black Hand, had just invaded Mirith and kidnapped the Duchess Tirana. Palmer realized that, if the Hand discovered his activities, then they could easily attack his unfortified town. So, in order to protect Lerilin, he fled. He told no one where he would be going, only saying that he would continue to look for the Hand's base of operations. Palmer was not seen nor heard of again until much later in the war, when he found a major Black Hand encampment not far from Mirith. The base was destroyed, but Palmer wasn't sure if it was the Hand's primary station. Then, in a letter addressed publicly to the citizens of Lerilin, Palmer told the story of his absence. As it turned out, Palmer had fled to the realm of the Mhara, since he was good friends with the Mhara princess, Nita. There, Palmer learned of the existence of the Poison Forges. These forges – foul creations of Yadeth's – were polluting the waters and causing disease among the sea creatures. Even some of the Mhara were beginning to get sick. In response to this threat, Palmer devised a plan with Nita. She would kill Yadeth, while he would ensure that the humans put an end to the Forges. After forming this agreement, Palmer remained with the Mhara for his own safety, until discovering the Black Hand encampment mentioned above. After Yadeth was killed with the help of Nita, it was Palmer's turn to act. He and an army from Mirith invaded the Tree Maze, annihilating the threat of the Poison Forges once and for all. With the war over, Palmer resumed his official duties in Lerilin. During the Bleeding Moon of Year 430, Palmer proposed the idea to create a Lerilin Vanguard, garnering mixed support. Since then, he busied himself with the day-to-day affairs of the town: dealing with anti-wall lobbyists, fending off ant invasions, and helping out with festivals, to name a few. However, his long tenure came to a tragic end not long after the Blue Moon Festival of Year 441, when he was found dead in the Lerilin inn, with a knife wound in the back that glowed a faint black.65Grey-bluePalmer es un científico de Black Mesa, que se encuentra en el nivel 3 de los dormitorios en "Black Mesa South Wing".
