It is possible that he deployed them during the strange ritual on Deathdesert, along with succubus Kharath. Wights are floating apparitions that appear at Wight Lairs, can be summoned by the Angmar faction in The Rise of the Witch-king, and can be brought into being (synonymously with "wraiths") by Morgomir's Morgul-blade ability. Whenever wights cause damage or kill an enemy, they gain health. Wights are dead men or creatures raised up by The Others, seemingly when touched by the cold that accompanies them. Anyone who falls against the Others must be burned, or else the dead will rise again as their thralls. Fear of their own dead becoming wights leads the free folk to burn them. They resemble skeletons with tendrils of black or brown mist swirling off of them. A wight is a reanimated corpse, either human or animal, raised from death by the White Walkers to act as their minions. Wights are often referred to collectively as the army of the dead, or simply as the dead.
