rdfs:comment
The Skewer is a Normal polearm in Diablo III. It requires character level 55 to be used. This weapon has the exact same stats as the adamant longsword. The Skewer was a ship used by the Zorbian space pirates in the Moddell sector. The pirates were rumored to have raided a caravan from Annaj that was transporting treasures to be appraised and sold, as well as an Ayrou antiquities freighter, before the pirates crashed on the Forest Moon of Endor. The Skewer was equipped with a black market transponder. A fringer named Macy Yakaro knew the frequencies the pirates used for their transponder from his time as a spaceport controller on Annaj, and would charge those who wished to find the ship and its cargo a fee for his help in detecting the various frequencies. In chess, a skewer is a situation where a two pieces are attacked along the same line, where one piece is in front, protecting the other, similar to pinning. The difference between the two, however, is that in a pin, the less valuable piece is protecting the more valuable, while in a skewer, it is the other way around: the more valuable piece is in front of the less valuable one. Skewer (串刺し, kusizashi) is a Physical skill. It deals light Physical damage to one foe, and costs 5% HP. File:Huge item skewer 01.png |-| Boost = Collect 28 (4/8/16) to get Scissor Tongs Skewer is a Taunt done by the Sniper. This taunt is done with the Huntsman or the Fortified Compound. This taunt is 3 seconds long, and deals 500 damage (Instant kill). The sniper says "Stab stab stab!" while this taunt is active. This taunt has two parts, the thrust, which stuns the target and the retreat, which does the 500 damage. If the taunt target is stunned, this does not guarantee they will die, if they are pushed away. Similarily, the target does not have to be stunned to be killed, such as around a corner. Between another sniper attempting this taunt, they can get eachother stunned, both with a arrow stuck in them until one of them is pushed away. While this happens, both snipers will look like they are stunned and the following will be what players hear: Sniper 1: Stab Sta- Sniper : Stab Sta- Sniper 1: Stab Sta- Sniper : Stab Sta- continously until one dies/leaves in one way or another. For example: a queen on b4 is threatened by a bishop on d2. Behind the queen, on square a5, is a rook of the same color. If the queen is moved, the other player can take the rook behind it with their bishop. If the queen does not or cannot take the bishop, then the next-best thing would be to move the queen out of the bishop's path, allowing it to take the rook, a less valuable piece than the queen. An absolute skewer is one where the king is being threatened, and the other, less valuable piece is behind it. Since the rules of chess require the king to get out of check somehow, if the threatening piece cannot be taken or blocked off, the king must move, leaving the opponent's piece to take the one that was behind the king. Since it puts the opponent's most valuable piece in direct threat, a skewer is generally more effective than a pin, though it is seen less often in actual play. The player being "skewered" often cannot avoid losing a piece. However, if that player can move the piece in front to a position where it causes check, it will allow for another turn to move the other piece out of danger. A skewer is also called a "thrust." This weapon has the exact same stats as the adamant longsword. Heavy Weapon - Melee AoE Damage - Enrage The Skewer was a ship used by the Zorbian space pirates in the Moddell sector. !BGCOLOR="#CCAAFF" width="100"|Job !BGCOLOR="#CCAAFF" width="50" align="center"|Rating !BGCOLOR="#CCAAFF" width="50" align="center"|Level |- valign="top" BGCOLOR="#EEEEFF" | Dragoon | align="center" | A+ | align="center" | 60 |- valign="top" BGCOLOR="#EEEEFF" | Warrior | align="center" | B- | align="center" | 62 |- valign="top" BGCOLOR="#EEEEFF" | Samurai | align="center" | B- | align="center" | 62 |- valign="top" BGCOLOR="#EEEEFF" | Paladin | align="center" | E | align="center" | 75 |} Skewers are thin rods of wood or metal with pointed ends used as a serving suggestion to hold small pieces of food together while grilling. The common, widely-recognized skewer dishes are known as kebabs. Skewers are monstrous flying animals, possessing a wingspan of approximately 15 meters (49 feet) and when combined with their sleek body structure and wide range of habitat, prove them to have no rivals more potent than they. They are the largest aerial predators on all of Darwin IV, and are both prey and predator to the planet's near-sapient species, the Eosapiens. Even Arrowtongues are not beyond vulnerability to their swooping attacks. Their species generally travel in mated pairs, but can be found less frequently in small, flying pods, using the planet's strong air currents to help migrate them from pole to pole. Skewers are reminiscently jet-like in shape, and like presumably all other predators on their world, hunt by sonar. They hunt in small packs, and use a huge, curved hollow nasal-lance protruding from their heads, which they use to impale and disembowel their prey. Once prey has been impaled, they go into a steep climb to offset the shift in their center of gravity caused by the impaled prey. They then proceed to inject their sometimes still-living prey with digestive enzymes as any other liquivore would do, and soon begin sucking the corpse's fluids out of its now-lifeless body. Each Skewer will alternate between feeding, and dropping their prey, letting other members of their pod to feed as well. This performance appears to be almost playful, and does not stop until the prey is finally completely drained of all its fluids. Skewers have been known to kill for sport, and even for fun. The shriveled husks of such victims can be found virtually everywhere upon Darwin IV's surface. Their species maneuver through the air by propelling themselves through the use of internally created methane gas, which is then combusted within the four jet-pods located on its wings, in a way again reminiscent of modern-day jet propelled aircraft of Earth. This is coupled with the movements of their wings. They do not flap but squeeze (similar to accordions), shifting their shape in order to shift flight patterns. With these two adaptations, they are capable of traveling at speeds of up to 322 kilometers per hour (200 miles per hour), making them likely the fastest species on Darwin IV as well as the largest aerial predator. These flyers usually hunt in pairs and use ultrahigh frequency pings that can become more rapid when they approach their targeted goal of prey. They are thick-bodied creatures, powerfully winged and equipped with long, curved lances that protrude from their heads. They exude an aura of frightening potency. During hunts, skewers can be followed by smaller scavenging flyers like violet follow-wings. When herds of flightless prey, such as symets, are startled by attacking skewers, they will attempt to jam the hunters' sonar with trilling. Normally skewers are undaunted by this. When attacking, they contract their corrugated, leathery wings and begin an awesome power-dive. They often target any herd's stragglers. Though when skewers plunge toward symets, the herbivores will attempt to confuse the attacking flyers with their identically-shaped heads and tails. To a creature relying on sonar recognition, they present a confusing image. The direction of their imminent flight becomes completely conjectural. At the moment of attack there is an all-too-clear transmission of the kill. Prey like symets can sometimes leap clear, its would-be killer veering off to regain altitude for a second pass. At other times, prey is not so fortunate, taking the full impact of the skewer's wicked lance below its kicking feet, driving it down the lance's length, while the skewer pulls sharply up, away from the ground. The following scavengers, namely follow-wings, get in a frenzy, darting forward to nip at the impaled victim. Bits of flesh fall from the prey animal to be caught by other scavenger flyers. The soaring skewer takes absolutely no notice of the scavengers, absorbed as it will be in sucking the carcass dry. A few minutes later, the scavengers are presented with a fluidless husk as the skewer lets it fall. Mating on the wing, belly to belly, the skewer is totally at home in the air. Ranging over 90 percent of the globe, it is unparalleled in its ability to hunt and kill. Virtually no other animal is safe from its attentions (such as gyrosprinters, prismalopes, rugose floaters and Unths), including, according to an amazing eyewitness account, the emperor sea strider. Hunting in pods of up to 30 or more individuals, these predators can overcome even the largest of Darwin IV's inhabitants. The large head is of very sturdy yet light construction, with bony structures buttressing the formidable lance. The lance itself is a marvel of design, being hollow, internally braced and as strong as titanium. It is also believed that it is, like the best blades, quite flexible. At times skewers hone their lances in numerous passes on volcanic "whetting spires." Upon examination of the inside of the lance, there is a battery of pointed, chitin-tipped tongues, each one capable of boring into flesh. This is how the skewer feeds on the wing. Upon the impalement of prey, these tongues will snake out of a dorsal groove on the lance and penetrate the body to suck it dry. Here is a classy irony of nature: a massive, powerful animal whose existence depends upon a fragile anatomical structure. The Skewer is a Normal polearm in Diablo III. It requires character level 55 to be used. The Skewer is a weapon that appears in Dead Space 3. The weapon can be found at a Bench after being awarded through the Slim Jim Every Code Wins promotion. Skewer is a spell.
