Lanky Kong is a character in the Donkey Kong series of video games, and is one of the main playable characters in the 1999 Nintendo 64 game, Donkey Kong 64. He is a distant cousin to Donkey Kong and the rest of the Kong clan and is an orangutan. His representative color throughout the game is blue and he first appears in the Angry Aztec level, locked inside a cage. It is Donkey Kong himself who must rescue him using his Coconut Cannon. He might be related to the orangutan enemy Manky Kong from Donkey Kong Country. Lanky has mostly a fun-loving silly behavior. Known for his incredible elastic limbs and ability to inflate himself, Lanky often achieves goals or solves problems in a most humorous way. Throughout the course of the game, in order to reach more Golden Bananas, Lanky can purchase potions and upgrades (among other things) for blue coins from Cranky Kong, Funky Kong and Candy Kong. In addition to these techniques and weapons, Funky will offer varying upgrades to Lanky's Grape Shooter - increasing its normal ammunition capacity from fifty grapes to two hundred, and introducing Homing Grapes. Candy can also increase the amount of times which Lanky may play the Trombone. Both characters will fill up Lanky's respective gauges if he's low on supplies when he reaches them. One of his abilities is the ability to handstand (and walk in that position) in order to climb steep surfaces. He can run at a very high speed (with the use of Crystal Coconuts), also by handstanding. This ability is particularly useful, and sometimes necessary, in timed missions and mini-games. After a long absence, Lanky Kong reappears as a playable character in Donkey Kong Bongo Blast. He is also a collectable trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Lanky Kong is a fictional character in Nintendo's Donkey Kong franchise. He is an anthropomorphic Sumatran orangutan who is a distant cousin to the Kong family. Lanky's first appearance was in Donkey Kong 64 as one of the games five playable Kongs. He was freed by Donkey Kong in the Angry Aztec level in the Llama's Temple. His weapon is the Grape Shooter, his instrument is the Trombone Tremor, and the Potion enables him to do OrangStand, walking on his hands to climb steep slopes. Baboon Balloon allows him to inflate himself to reach higher areas, and OrangSprint allows him to run really fast on his hands. In the level, Gloomy Galleon, he can transform into Enguarde the Swordfish when he enters the Enguarde Crate. Lanky Kong also makes a cameo in the GBA port of Donkey Kong Country 3 in one of Funky's minigames. Lanky appears in his spin-off debut, Donkey Kong Barrel Blast as one of the Kongs. He is one of the unlockable characters. Note that in Donkey Kong Country there was an orangutan enemy called Manky Kong similar to Lanky in both appearance and name. It is unknown if they have any relation or if Lanky Kong was based on Manky Kong. Lanky Kong appears as a trophy in the game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Lanky Kong is a wacky looking orange orangutan and ally of Donkey Kong and the Kong family. Lanky's first appearance was in the Nintendo 64 game Donkey Kong 64. Once Lanky is released players become capable of collecting blue Bananas, coins and Blueprints. Throughout the game Lanky gains a variety of bizarre abilities from drinking Cranky Kong's various potions. Some of these abilities include Lanky walking on his hands, inflating himself like a balloon and walking on his hands at super-fast speeds. Lanky's weapon is the Grape Shooter, a long blow tube that shoots large grapes. His instrument is trombone, which allows him to use the powerful Trombone Tremor attack. Lanky briefly appears in one of Funky's mini-games the Game Boy Advance remake of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble. He has no style, he has no grace This Kong has a funny face He can handstand when he needs to And stretch his arms out, just for you Inflate himself just like a balloon This crazy Kong just digs this tune Huh!
