Anguirus is an ankylosaur that survived mass extinction. In the game he is an earth-defender and thus, an ally of Godzilla. Anguirus travels aroung on fours but in combat will stand on 2 legs. He has an ankylosaur body structure covered with spikes on his back head and tail. Anguirus performs standard swipe, bite and tail smack attacks and is capable of curling into a ball to fight multiple enemies. He is capable of firing a sonic roar that sends enemies flying. Roll up into a spike ball and bounce at enemies Thick skin and armor Spiked tail withstand high temperatures Anguirus resembles a cross between an ankylosaurus, a porcupine, and an armadillo. He generally crawls on all fours but can stand upright as well. Anguirus has light gray skin, a spiny carapace, a spiky tail that sometimes ends in a club, a crown of spikes on his head, a small spike on his nose, and large human-like eyes. In the Showa era, Anguirus is 60 meters tall when standing on his hind legs, 100 meters long, and weighs 30,000 tons. In Godzilla: Final Wars, Anguirus is 90 meters tall when standing on both legs, 160 meters long, and weighs 60,000 tons. Anguirus is a four-legged dinosaur that looks vaguely similar to an Ankylosaurus or a Glyptodon. He has several horns at the top of his head and a single horn above his nose. Anguirus appears to be a cross of a dinosaur and a hedgehog. He sometimes can be represented as a turtle in this crossbreed. His face is long and drawn out and has rows of jagged, serrated teeth. His carapace is studded with long, sharp spikes resembling a porcupine's back. Anguirus' tail is covered with spikes and makes up most of his body length. His hind limbs are longer than his forelimbs and he can stand up on them to his full height, though he generally walks upon all fours. Anguirus is the second Kaiju (Japanese giant monster) to appear in the Toho franchise. Anguirus appeared only a year after Godzilla in the 1955 Toho film Godzilla Raids Again. Though being the first monster Godzilla ever fought, he has allied himself with the King of Monsters on several instances against more dangerous threats, eventually becoming his most trusted ally. Like most of Toho's kaiju, Anguirus is distinguished from other monsters in part by his unique vocalizations. In Final Wars, his most common sound is a high-pitched keening, but he also produces several other roars, including a cry extremely similar to that of the alien Ridley from the Nintendo game Super Metroid.
