The song took place around October 12, 1938 during the Japanese invasion of China, which was an event that occurred before World War II was declared. The song was set in the Repubic of China in Foushan, which is located in Guangzhou. In this story, YANHE plays a male character who was the successor to the Yong Chun style of kung fu and he was the only child in the family, learning the ways from his father. He and Luo Tianyi's character were friends since they were children and strike a romantic relationship in the end. Tianyi was born in an education-inclined family. Her father used to send her to English schools that were built by the British to learn about democracy, public speaking, and writing. While growing up, she moved to Guangzhou with him, but they separated due to conflicting ideology. She moved out and had since lived in YANHE's home. The War of Southern China had started and Guangzhou was taken over by Japan. YANHE's house was blown up, thus forcing him to perform heavy labor to support both of their lives. YANHE noticed that his friends were being killed by the Japanese at the fighting stage. He kept silent for a while, and when Tianyi noticed, she asked for a reason, which he answered. With her support, he challenged the Japanese in a kung fu competition. He defeated one after another, however, the last opponent hid armor with sharp thorns under his shirt. Because of this, YANHE nearly lost his hands from the impact and was badly injured, close to death. Afterwards, he and Tianyi fled to Hong Kong, where they settled down and started their jobs at a newspaper making company."@en . .
