Executor-class Star Dreadnought
rdfs:comment
The Executor-class star dreadnought, also known as the Executor-class super star destroyer and informally as simply Super Star Destroyer, was a class of capital ship brought into service by the Galactic Empire some time after the battle of Yavin in 0 ABY and before the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY. Built by the famous Kuat Drive Yards, they were the largest and most powerful warships of their era and were meant to serve as the ultimate example of the Imperial Navy’s might. The mere sight of an Executor was often enough to make entire star systems submit out of fear of being subjected to a Base Delta Zero, an orbital bombardment operation whereby the population of a planet was eradicated, their cities obliterated, and the entire surface rendered unproductive and uninhabitable. However, these shi Executor-class Star Dreadnoughts, also known as Super-class Star Destroyers, were some of the largest and most powerful Imperial starships ever created. Along with other classes of massive Imperial capital ships, they were also informally referred to as Super Star Destroyers. The most distinguished Super Star Destroyer was the Executor, flagship of the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader. Due to the sheer size of the ships, they all had some degree of customization. __FLAGS__ <default><i>Executor-class Star Dreadnought</i></default> Production information Manufacturer Product line Model Class Cost Modified by Technical specifications Modified systems Length Width Height Mass Maximum acceleration MGLT Maximum speed (atmospheric) Engine units Hyperdrive rating Hyperdrive range Hyperdrive system Power output Power plant Shielding Hull Sensor systems Targeting systems Navigation systems Avionics Main computer Countermeasures Armament Complement Docking bays Escape craft Crew Minimum crew Cargo capacity Cargo handling systems Consumables Life support Communication systems Other systems Usage Availability Role First used Era(s) Affiliation Owners Captains Passengers Modules The Executor-class measured 19,000 meters in length. 404,330 Imperial Navy officers and enlisted men were said to have crewed the vessel, while over two thousand gunners were said to have operated its over 5,000 turbolasers and ion cannons. Thirteen engines in five thruster banks gave the Executor-class impressive acceleration for its size. Approximately twelve wings of fighter and bomber craft were carried in her mammouth hangar bays.

However, these ships were extremely costly to operate and their delivery to the Imperial Navy was slowed and in limited numbers due to not just their size and cost but also due to lots of credits and resources being poured into the Death Star programme. Many Moffs and Admirals even went as far as to sharply criticize the primary focus of the Tarkin Initiative and say that the money and resources being pumped into the Death Star programme could have been better spent making and maintaining greater numbers of Executors. The Executor-class measured 19,000 meters in length. __FLAGS__ <default><i>Executor-class Star Dreadnought</i></default> Production information Manufacturer Product line Model Class Cost Modified by Technical specifications Modified systems Length Width Height Mass Maximum acceleration MGLT Maximum speed (atmospheric) Engine units Hyperdrive rating Hyperdrive range Hyperdrive system Power output Power plant Shielding Hull Sensor systems Targeting systems Navigation systems Avionics Main computer Countermeasures Armament Complement Docking bays Escape craft Crew Minimum crew Cargo capacity Cargo handling systems Consumables Life support Communication systems Other systems Usage Availability Role First used Era(s) Affiliation Owners Captains Passengers Modules The Executor-class Star Destroyer, sometimes known as the Executor-class Super Star Destroyer or simply as the Super Star Destroyer, was the most powerful warship in the galaxy by the time of the Galactic War. Designed by Kuat Drive Yards for the Galactic Empire, this massive warship was 8,000 meters long—eight kilometers in length. However, it was not only five times the length of an Imperial Star Destroyer, but ten times more massive, with a gigantic bulk that housed a thousand weapons emplacements, two full wings of TIE starfighters, and a crew of over a quarter of a million. The Executor-class Star Destroyer also had a full corps of stormtroopers, and hosted hundreds of supplemental vehicles and ground dropships. The Executor classification was rumored to be able to simultaneously engage between six to a dozen Imperial I-class Star Destroyers, although definitive data was unknown. This massive Star Destroyer, however, was confirmed to have enough batteries to complete a Base Delta Zero in hours on a hostile planet by itself. The Executor-class Star Destroyer was named after the Executor, the first of such warships to be constructed in that line of battlecruisers. However, the Executor classification's nickname of "Super Star Destroyer" was actually a misnomer, as the Super Star Destroyer title simply refers to any classification of warship with a dagger-shaped hull with a keel length of greater than the 1,600 meters of the Imperial Star Destroyer. It was that the Executor classification was the most well-known type of Super Star Destroyer. Another Super Star Destroyer design was the far less common Eclipse-class Star Destroyer. Executor-class Star Dreadnoughts, also known as Super-class Star Destroyers, were some of the largest and most powerful Imperial starships ever created.
