Psychokinesis Psychokinesis
rdfs:comment
Many basic techniques such as binding; the ability to keep object or being from moving and levitation; the ability to lift an object are simple to grasp and learned quickly. The mental energy required to perform these are very low. A small child that has gained Psychokinesis could master these techniques within hours of realizing the ability. Psychokinesis is the primary method for accomplishing Psionics. It is concentration on the manipulation of energy, in all its various forms. This mainly manifests as Psi Energy, also called Qi, Ki or Prana. Different variants of Psychokinesis allow one to use the various elements and, to a certain extent, control them. In other pages, when a form of Psionics is referred to as a "kinesis", this can be assumed to mean a form of Psychokinesis. A psionic ability, sometimes abbreviated "PK." This term refers to the ability to manipulate matter via the mind (psycho: mind, kinesis: movement). It was created by parapsychologists to replace the term "telekinesis", as that term means "distance movement", and was considered less accurate. Psychokinesis is incorrectly used as another name for telekinesis. Whereas telekinesis is specifically moving things with your mind from a distance, psychokinesis encompasses any and all psychic abilities that are visible in and/or have effects on objects in the physical world. Psychokinesis (念力 (サイコキネシス) Nenriki (Saikokineshisu)?) (PK) in the Toaru Majutsu no Index universe is both one of two criterias that esper powers are grouped into, the other being ESP or Extrasensory perception, and an esper power itself. (ATL: "Tao of Rodney") (SG1: "Prototype") Psychokinesis is a psych of the neutral element, with most pins made by either D+B or Dragon Couture, although many other brands possess a pin with the ability. The ability manifests itself in three different ways, depending on the pin: The second type of psychokinesis is used by slashing across the same movable objects. In this way, the objects fly across the screen until they hit the ground or come in contact with enemies. Think of it like the object were being kicked at a Noise. Psychokinesis (サイコキネシス Saikokineshisu?), also called PK, is a move used by Silver the Hedgehog that first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). It is a technique that lets Silver move (-kinesis) matter with the mind (ps'ycho-) remotely, and is the signature move amongst his psychokinetic powers. Cadi is very advanced with her ability. She can interpret thoughts in any language, and choose whether or not she hears thoughts. She can also push thoughts, create hallucinations, and control people in a variety of ways. She can also force someone to use any active or mentally controlled ability. She can hypnotise a person with a thought, or make them asleep or unconscious. After unshielded exposure to the barrier at the edge of the galaxy, Gary Mitchell developed this ability, among others. Evidence obtained from the SS Valiant's disaster recorder suggested that at least one individual in that crew developed the same or similar capabilities. (TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before" ) The mute humanoid known as Gem, in addition to being an empath, was able to induce physical healing in other lifeforms, at the cost of causing similar damage to herself. (TOS: "The Empath" ) Some Vorta also have this ability, such as Eris. (DS9: "The Jem'Hadar") The limitations of psychokinesis were unknown; it was theorized that its potential applications were virtually unlimited, as it was with the Force. The strength of psychokinesis varied greatly between users depending on their own strength of mind, the potency of their connection to the Void, the proficiency of their ability to concentrate, among other variables. The most abnormal characteristic of psychokinesis were the effects it produced when in conflict with Force-powered telekinesis; the two energy fields became volatile, once likened to the relationship between matter and antimatter. This is the only known ability native to Voidborn that has such a particularly erratic reaction to the Force. The word 'psychokinesis' comes from the chinese words 'psycho' and 'nesis' (the 'ki' is added because they're KomunIsts) meaning 'crazy foreigner'. Psychokinesis is also one of the main tuggings of "the gut" being as how the gut is often very lazy and doesn't feel like doing to much, forcing the mind to grab what it needs for it. The problem with this tugging is that the gut often wants fire, giving the chinese control of the the craft because of their ability to create fire from nothing, proven by them being the first to creat fireworks. Psychokinesis is one of the many powers that releasios have. It allows the wielder to teleport things with their mind. Toad is known to use this power to send his enemies to the moon. Psychokinesis is the magical ability to move objects that are not in visual range with the mind. It can be used to move objects over large distances and even affect complex machinery whose inner workings are foreign to the user, such as alarm systems. Certain users go in a trance-like state when using this power. "Psychokinesis" is a song by Utsu-P. It is his 15th published work and featured on his first album DIARRHEA. Psychokinesis sometimes called "Telekinesis" or "Mental Manipulation", Psychokinesis is a term used to describe the ability of some characters to use their mind to manipulate matter, time, space and/or energy without any physical means. The term can be applied to something as simple as Pyrokinesis or as complicated as Psychometry. Characters with this ability use psionics to affect their space around them. Psionics are general psychic powers. Some Vampires have this ability but their usage is very limited. Characters with this ability can manipulate something at a distance while others can create the matter that they manipulate. Characters like Static use Electrokinesis to create electricity and manipulate it. Characters like Mera need water around her to use her Hydrokinesis. Psychokinesis (literally "mind-movement"), also referred to as telekinesis (Greek τῆλε + κίνησις, literally "distant-movement") with respect to strictly describing mental movement or motion of solid matter, abbreviated as PK and TK respectively, is a term coined by publisher Henry Holt to refer to the direct influence of mind on a physical system without the use of physical action or energy. Simply put, psychokinesis is the movement of a physical object by the use of the mind only. Psychokinesis was a mental discipline or psionic sub-class. Any psion who focused on this discipline gained experience and power in telekinetic force or manipulating energy and matter. Things to think about: Psychokinesis is an umbrella term for any ability that involves manipulating matter with the mind. Abilities with the term "kinesis" after them are simply an application of psychokinesis. It is a matter of applying psychokinesis in a certain way to get the intended result. The word psychokinesis is created by taking the prefixes "psycho" and "kinesis" from Greek to mean literally "mind movement". Psychokinesis (also known as telekinesis) involves moving objects mentally (with the mind) instead of physically (with the body or other physical object). Races like the M'Tar and Na'arbi held the ability to use psychokinesis to move objects. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions) Some Vulcans in monasteries on Vulcan were known to have this ability as well. (Star Trek III: The Search for Spock) Crypto uses this ability to make a human's head explode, allowing for brain stem extraction without the use of the Anal Probe. After acquiring the Mind Flash ability, Crypto must consume brains in order to use it. Psychokinesis (mind moving) is the psychic ability to move objects with the just the mind, without touching them physically in any way. It is also called telekinesis (remote moving). * Poltergeist Psychokinesis, also known as telekinesis, is the ability to move objects that one can or cannot see with the power of their mind. Beings near ascension are able to demonstrate psychokinesis. Cassandra Fraiser and Wodan were given psycokinetic abilities by Nirrti in an attempt to create a Hok'tar (advanced human) host; Cassandra through a retro-virus, and Wodan through a DNA resequencer. Priors have demonstrated the ability to use psychokinesis, as have de-ascended beings such as Merlin, and Daniel Jackson after downloading Merlin's memories. Rodney McKay also gained telekinesis when exposed to a Ancient Device that was designed to accelerate a human's natural evolution. Psychokinesis (also known as telekinesis) involves moving objects mentally (with the mind) instead of physically (with the body or other physical object). (Star Trek III: The Search for Spock) In 2379, Chivaul, who was a Vulcan master, martial-artist, and Starfleet scientist/teacher, achieved telekinesis and attempted to experiment with it on one of his students. He tested a theory of his that could be described somewhat like "controlled-evolution" by mind-melding with the student, Keth. During the mind-meld, he attempted to use telekinesis to control Keth's cells. Unfortunately, Chivaul had unknowingly encountered an unknown alien during his transit from Boreth, not too long earlier, and a remnant of this alien interfered with the mind-meld. The result was Keth partially transforming (on the genetic level) into an unknown alien creature. (Star Trek: Evolutions) Psychokinesis is a psych of the neutral element, with most pins made by either D+B or Dragon Couture, although many other brands possess a pin with the ability. The ability manifests itself in three different ways, depending on the pin: The first is that when the stylus is placed upon a movable object (car, bicycle, street sign, etc.), it is levitated into the air. When lifted, the object follows the stylus's contact with the screen. The overall point of this attack is to take the airborne object and crash it into enemies, who receive damage on impact. The object continues being held after hitting enemies, so it can hit multiple enemies. The second type of psychokinesis is used by slashing across the same movable objects. In this way, the objects fly across the screen until they hit the ground or come in contact with enemies. Think of it like the object were being kicked at a Noise. Dragon Couture's Psychokinesis pins constitute the third type, which involves tapping the object. The object will be lifted in the air by an orb of light, and will fling itself at the next location you tap. These pins have twice the efficiency for a given object as the other types. Note that you can pick up multiple objects this way, but each enemy can only take damage once per use, so this is generally not a good idea unless you want to cover a larger area with one attack. Also note that the pin uses a bunch of power each time you lift an object, and uses more power constantly as long as you are lifting it, so it is generally a good idea to attack quickly after you pick the object up. The damage inflicted depends on the object lifted. Heavier items such as cars do more damage than light items such as signs. Also, pins 008, 161, and 191 can throw enemies around as well as objects, and heavier enemies (rhinos) do more damage than light ones (frogs), but you cannot throw most bosses or any mammoth or drake. The damage values (Atk200) listed are for the SUV. Other objects deal less damage. (ATL: "Tao of Rodney") (SG1: "Prototype") Cadi is very advanced with her ability. Psychokinesis is the magical ability to move objects that are not in visual range with the mind. It can be used to move objects over large distances and even affect complex machinery whose inner workings are foreign to the user, such as alarm systems. Certain users go in a trance-like state when using this power. This page gives you the opportunity to redirect to the original article that is on Wikipedia or stay on the Crossgen Comics Database. Psychokinesis, also known as telekinesis, is the ability to move objects that one can or cannot see with the power of their mind. (SG1: "Rite of Passage", "Metamorphosis", "Origin", "Prototype", "The Fourth Horseman, Part 2", "The Quest, Part 2") Psychokinetics are even able to affect complex machinery whose inner workings are foreign to those using it, including energy weapons as used by the Wraith, and Particle magnums. (SGA: "Tao of Rodney") (SG1: "Prototype") Psychokinesis (サイコキネシス Saikokineshisu?), also called PK, is a move used by Silver the Hedgehog that first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). It is a technique that lets Silver move (-kinesis) matter with the mind (ps'ycho-) remotely, and is the signature move amongst his psychokinetic powers. Psychokinesis is one of the many powers that releasios have. It allows the wielder to teleport things with their mind. Toad is known to use this power to send his enemies to the moon. Many basic techniques such as binding; the ability to keep object or being from moving and levitation; the ability to lift an object are simple to grasp and learned quickly. The mental energy required to perform these are very low. A small child that has gained Psychokinesis could master these techniques within hours of realizing the ability. Higher, more advanced techniques such as homing; the ability to make any object automatically follow, home in and lock onto its target or targets until it hits them and spatial sensing; the ability to make a mental picture of any object or being within a given area. These techniques require much more mental focus and effort to perform. It normally takes a beginner a few weeks to possibly months to master these techniques. Master level techniques such as elemental transmutation; the ability to transmute matter into different forms, combustion; the ability to speed an object's molecules to the point that it combusts, and even dimensional travel; the ability to bend the very fabric of dimensional barriers, allowing travel through wormholes or teleportation-like movement require extreme focus and mental strength. These techniques on average take months to even years to master. Ultimate level techniques such as particle manipulation; the ability to manipulate matter at the utmost bassist of levels and forces manipulation; the ability to manipulate the fundamental forces of the universe take nearly all mental energy available, even from outside sources, to perform. Techniques like these take nearly a lifetime just to learn, let alone master. Crypto uses this ability to make a human's head explode, allowing for brain stem extraction without the use of the Anal Probe. After acquiring the Mind Flash ability, Crypto must consume brains in order to use it. "Psychokinesis" is a song by Utsu-P. It is his 15th published work and featured on his first album DIARRHEA. Psychokinesis is an umbrella term for any ability that involves manipulating matter with the mind. Parapsychology researchers have described multiple cases of psychokinetic/telekinetic effects within their laboratory and a few cases outside of the lab. Micro-psychokinesis (Micro-PK) is a term used to describe the manipulation of events or probability (things that are not seen with the naked eye itself). Macro-psychokinesis (Macro-PK) is a large-scale effect that can be seen with the unaided eye (moving water or fire). The abilities below are applications of psychokinesis. If you are able to perform one of them, you are able to perform all of them. These pages contain techniques that can aid in your practice, but these are not the only techniques available. Use them as a guide. Mold these techniques to fit your need and to suit what best works for you. This is not the only way to practice psychokinesis, as these are only step-by-step guides with information. It may help to have a foundation in energy manipulation before beginning to work with psychokinesis. Psychokinesis, as all psionic abilities, requires the use of energy. Knowing how to use energy more effectively and having more experience with it will aid some in your practice. After unshielded exposure to the barrier at the edge of the galaxy, Gary Mitchell developed this ability, among others. Evidence obtained from the SS Valiant's disaster recorder suggested that at least one individual in that crew developed the same or similar capabilities. (TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before" ) The Platonians acquired the ability after settling on Platonius, thanks to an unusual substance named kironide. Because kironide must be processed by the pituitary gland, individuals with glandular defects, like Alexander, could not process the substance and therefore did not develop the power. (TOS: "Plato's Stepchildren" ) The mute humanoid known as Gem, in addition to being an empath, was able to induce physical healing in other lifeforms, at the cost of causing similar damage to herself. (TOS: "The Empath" ) Vulcans in the monasteries of Mount Seleya may possess this ability. One example is when Captain Spock's body was brought for the Fal-tor-pan ritual, priestesses carried his body by holding their hands above him (assuming that no anti-gravity technology was being used). (Star Trek III: The Search for Spock) The remote Federation outpost Darwin Genetic Research Station on Gagarin IV experimented in genetic engineering, which included making all of their "children" telekinetic, as well as telepathic. Trapped in an observation bay, the "children" (who appeared to be in their early 20s) would play three-dimensional chess with their telekinesis. (TNG: "Unnatural Selection" ) Some Vorta also have this ability, such as Eris. (DS9: "The Jem'Hadar") Centuries ago, the Ocampa naturally had this power, but after years of care from the Caretaker it fell into disuse. A group of them that left learned this ability from Suspiria. (VOY: "Caretaker", "Cold Fire") Just before leaving the starship USS Voyager, Kes' powers had advanced so much her telekinesis activated without her even trying, such as when The Doctor asked for a hypospray it flew across the room to her. (VOY: "The Gift") Psychokinesis was a mental discipline or psionic sub-class. Any psion who focused on this discipline gained experience and power in telekinetic force or manipulating energy and matter.
